We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef STAR Breathett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chef STAR, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Keep moving forward! No matter what you see, No matter what you hear, no matter what you feel, or no matter what you have failed, always always always keep moving forward. You are actually further then you know!

At some point in your business you begin to look at your failures and instead of doing an evaluation you forget that you even had the courage to start something that was only an idea in your head. To start a business or career take some type of whale power and develops a drive like no other. As long as you can remember why you started your business or career or anything in your life for that matter, you will always find that inward momentum to keep moving forward and produce good products. Everything gets better with time!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always known that I wasn’t meant for the traditional 9-5 job simply because I was always creating or looking for ways to improve and make things more interesting to work with. It really didn’t matter what type of job I had, I was always the one looking to bring unity by means of comfort in your belly. To try something that I’d never done was one of the scariest things I have ever done, and not because I was afraid of failing but because I afraid no one would find out who I am! That now a days isn’t an issue and I’ve only reached roughly 15% percent of my target market. There’s an entire world that is awaiting my full arrival.

Hell No it wasn’t easy to overcome lol, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. By THIS not being easy, it has built and will continue to build my character! It allows me to be creative and have a creative mind and positive outlook during evaluations on how to improve myself and my business. We are not perfect but we strive to operate in excellence.

Lessons that I will hold near and dear to my business heart is always be respectful , responsible, and hold yourself accountable! Don’t get complacent and stop being innovative! “When change comes, Change!” , -BMLH

What I need the world to know about my brand and story is that My vision behind SPF Catering Service is
“We Serve You Fresh From The Start”.
This slogan was birthed in 2015 when I use to be almost 300lbs and currently I am a whopping 100lbs lighter and dropping below and sustaining below the 210lbs mark. I learned food was more about quality (fresher taste, fresher ingredients) than quantity (loaded calories). I want to serve people internally to help them gain their health to be their best selves yet. And food simply taste better fresh!!! Before my grandmother passed and went on to rest in paradise, I use to call her and tell her my dreams of one day cooking in my very own kitchen like she did and feeding people soul worldwide. I’m humbled now that I have the opportunity to remember her every time I step in a kitchen and leave a piece of our love for food in every dish prepared.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being honest this is the best question yet because I love Atlanta and it’s city life!!! Yes I am an original ATLalien ✌🏾, born at Grady Hospital, raised between the SWATS and Cataula, GA! I love it here and all it has to offer or create! A long weekend trip would have to start on a Friday night where we would meet up at some hidden gems for quick bites and loads of laughs.

Friday Night: Six feet Under or Ponce City Market for some nice rooftop action, nice signature drinks, plenty of tapas items from an array of restaurants, and plenty of laughter.

Saturday: A Beautiful Recovery Spot is the Silver Comet Trail for bike rides and perfect scenery for photo shots. Next Up would be any Paint & Sip location to start off the night all while enjoying a fresh Charcuterie board prepared by yours truly. Uptown Comedy Corner in Hapeville will take us on home.

Sunday: We will attend Victory City Church in Forest Park, GA for our weekly spiritual nourishment and slide right over to Hattie Marie’s BBQ in College Park for their beef ribs to go with my nice Sunday spread I cooked at home to enjoy the fellowship before we all depart.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my grandmother the late and great Mattie Hall, to my Twins Mikel and Mikala, & to my Pastor Bishop House! Without any of them THIS article would not be possible.

The love that I’ve developed for cooking and joy I get from serving others was etched in me from the beginning and being right by my grandmothers side as a child and watching her gracefully prepare meals for 50+ individuals the same as she did for our household of 5.

My Twins are my driver seats! If it wasn’t for them watching me work and go forward I wouldn’t keep my momentum and positivity up. They know, understand, and see hard work ethics in motion and they to will one day understand why their mom never gave up or gave in!

My Bishop House is the glue that holds SPF Catering Service together you hear me! It has been many times that I wanted to throw the whole towel and table in and my Bishop would call on me to prepare something and I’m instantly reminded of my why. I would chuckle when that happen and just tell God thank you because without God speaking through the Man of God there would be no Business. My Catering Business has flourished right in the midst of the priceless Business Coaching Sessions held by SPF Catering Service.

Without these group of people SPF Catering Service would still be an idea and not a full blown reality. We are still growing and thriving to reach our heightened place in the world but we will never forget where we came from.
