We had the good fortune of connecting with Bria Booker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bria, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I feel that sometimes taking a risk is necessary. At times, without you taking that risk, you will be in the same predicament you were yesterday or the day before, which isn’t always a good thing. Risks take you out of your comfort zone and most times thats what is mandatory in order for you to reach your fullest potential. Taking risks plays a big role in my life. I took a risk to start my businesses with no money, no clientele, and low quality products. As I continue to build clientele my businesses flourished and the quality of my products improved.

What should our readers know about your business?
With my jewelry, i’m very different from others because all of my pieces are custom and made to order. No sets are all the same. Even if the colors are the same, they are always different styles. My beads are also made out of glass jade beads. Not many people use those types of beads. To get as far as I have today it took doing multiple pop up shops and stepping out of my comfort zone. Starting a business takes a lot of stepping out of your comfort zone and for such an anxious person that wasnt very easy for me. My friends and my boyfriend coming to my pop up shops helped me open up to talking to strangers. Along the way, I had to learn that I will experience many different customers and clients. I will have people that are easy going and I will also have people who ask more questions than others. I want people to know I turned nothing into something in a matter of months. I want the world to know that Blazin’ Beauty Boutique isnt just jewelry. In the near future it will be a versatile establishment. As of now we offer a new service. I just opened a nail business within the jewelry making business and soon will be capable of providing all beauty necessities.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To begin the week, I would take my best friend to Nouveau for brunch for good food and drinks. Later on I would take her downtown to see piedmont park. Then for more fun I would take her to the belt line to enjoy adult games and drinking. Id also enjoy taking her to the World of Coca Cola and the Aquarium. For some entertainment, I would swing her by the Center for Puppetry Art to see some of her favorite childhood characters. The ferris wheel is the most exciting in my opinion for a tourist because you can see and view the city. To finish off the trip, I would take her o dinner at the hive, which has great food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother deserves a shoutout the most. When starting my business she made sure I had everything I needed to get on my feet. She helped me find the best items with the best prices and quality. My friends also deserve credit as well. Whenever I began a new project they always let me experiment with them. They were around for any and every thing I did when it came to launching my businesses, so for that I am very appreciative of them.
