We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandis and Kesha Gossett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandis and Kesha, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work-life balance is one of the very reasons we decided to embark on this journey of entrepreneurship and create Your Clean Break residential and commercial cleaning. We have 5 children and spending time with them during these primary years is so meaningful to us. You never know just how much you miss out on while you’re giving your time to other people (work). We have also found this to be a major reason why our employees enjoy working for Your Clean Break. Our Core Values are Family, Integrity, Accountability, and Fun. It’s no coincidence that family is number one on this list. The most important resource you can give someone is time. This also includes time for yourself (self-care). So we purposely enjoy our weekends and evenings free from work (unless we choose to). What good is making all the money in the world, if you have no time to enjoy it? Work hard, play hard!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are the owners of Your Clean Break, a residential and commercial cleaning company. Our superior service and satisfaction guarantee set us apart from others. We knew early on that we wanted to focus on giving quality cleaning and as well quality service and we’ve done just that. It has not been an easy journey. We have had to learn some tough lessons but they have helped us grow tremendously as individuals and also as business owners. A few months after we started Your Clean Break, the pandemic hit. We had to learn how to pivot so we took the opportunity to invest in ourselves and learn more about our industry and learn more about how we can help stop the spread of Coronavirus. We now offer disinfecting services, but more importantly, teach that disinfection is a process, not a product. We have learned to always stay flexible as the world is ever-changing we have to be ready to adjust to it. We also keep in mind that we are the bosses and we CAN make the changes that we want to see. As a family-owned business, we know the importance of family time. Our mission is to do the hard work so that our clients can spend more precious time with their loved ones.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If our best friends came to town we would definitely show them a good time! We would take them to eat at places like 9 Mile Station for some rooftop action and play a few games at the Skyline Park while we are there. We would also take them to our favorite Louisiana Bistreaux and of course Flying Biscuit for breakfast! Anything in the Old Fourth Ward is going to be a win. We would hang out on Auburn Ave. to people watch and then hit up the City Winery for some good music.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We give our first shoutout to God. Secondly is our family. I can’t even include the word friend, because after all they’ve done for us they are officially our family. We have such a solid support system that even on the tough days when we wanted to give up, they wouldn’t let us. From watching our children to giving their professional resources, it is all truly appreciated. We definitely know that we would never be able to call ALL the names of people that have helped us through this journey, but we would be remiss to not call a few. Our parents who have been our biggest support, they’re even our clients!
