We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Word and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, my thought process behind starting my own business was “Being Convenient” for my customers. I wanted to start something that would never go out of business or out of style because we all know some things go out of style so quick and never make a come back. I also wanted something that could always advance and change with time if need be. I also wanted to start something that would cater to women of all races, ages, and style….and I did just that! Even though there are other businesses out there within the same industry of my interest I still went for it and I am so glad that I did. My thought process is continuously wondering what else can I add or do to push my business to the next level to keep the attention of the people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ever since I was younger I have always enjoyed younger children and wanted to grow up and be in the childcare field. From babysitting my younger cousins to just simply watching the kids next door it always just made me so happy. That would probably explain why I always describe my personality as “Big Little Kid.” I graduated from Bowie State University with a Bachelor’s in Pedology (the study of children). So, I went to school for the area I wanted and graduated in the area I wanted so if you ask me it turned out to be a win win situation. Even though I was working with children way before I graduated college, once I did I was able to find a good steady job with Fairfax County Government and have been with the company since 2008.

Honestly I would have to say the process was pretty easy to me and that the only obstacle I endured was my last year in college when I had to commute back and forth from VA to MD on days I had classes. Within my field I would say I have learned a lot of is having more patience with situations along with advancing in my people skills when carrying on conversations. A major lesson that I still keep with me till this very day is to, “Never give up on what you want to do in life and never limit who you are for other people.

I would want the world to know that I am someone who never gave up, continued pushing through the hard times and uplifted others along the way. My journey includes more than just what I can do but what WE can do together. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When it comes to my story, my business, my talent or my goals..I would LOVE to dedicate my Shoutout to my friends Lorna, Myaa, Nora, Jeanette and my cousin-sister Youlanda a.k.a my chocolate drop..lol! These women have always been a positive roll in my life and pushed me to become a better me when i have felt like I couldn’t. All of these women are strong and independent and I am so thankful to have them be a part of my story.
