We had the good fortune of connecting with Beverly D’Amico and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beverly, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The reason I started my business is because I believed I had something that would benefit the world. I had many experiences, traumas in my life from childhood throughout life. Through these events I came out scarred but victorious. Those that knew my life’s story seemed to marvel at why I was still standing. I didn’t understand why they marveled. I thought my actions were the actions of everyone that had difficulties in life. A therapist once asked my why and how I overcame my adversities. I was confused so I asked what do you mean. She said there are many people with the diagnosis of PTSD. How were you able to overcome? I didn’t have an answer. I didn’t know except faith, prayer, and tenacity.
This question lead me to review my life. I remember as an elementary student my friends would come to me with all their problems. I would ask myself, why do they come to me? At that time I thought I should become a social worker…..I thought NAH! They don’t make enough money. So, I dismissed the idea. At that time I believe God or who/whatever you call your higher power was directing my path and telling me who and what my role would be in society.
I like many of us take our own paths, those that were not designed for us. In other words our path was not the path designed for us. Along the path I suffered many bumps and bruises. In 2014 I met my mentor by happenstance and he redirected me to my God given purpose. From this guidance I remembered sitting on the bleachers at school in the 4th grade says my direction was to be a social worker, or someone who helped others. My experiences, my schooling, God and trauma lead me to have a heart to serve others.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My niche are women from 25-65. Occasionally I will coach a younger female. It depends on their maturity level. As stated before I specialize in Grief, Pattern Breaking, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD due to childhood trauma/sexual abuse. I draw on my skills from 33yrs of nursing. Over the years I noticed that many chronic diseases were rooted in unresolved grief. As I built a relationship with my clients they began to divulge their griefs, heart pains of life. I noticed where people felt their emotional pain is usually where their disease process manifested. In that illumination I desired to work with people’s heart pains by addressing their griefs and traumas. I also draw wisdom from my history of trauma and its history. I research clinical perspectives and I utilize biblical principles. when coaching. Lastly, I was certified in unique areas that I thought would benefit my clients. When an opportunity arises that can help my clients I seek it out.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, my friends are a lot like me. We value friendships and family. So, our focus would be home cooked meals, playing games, and getting in the middle of the street with the kids and play “Mother May I” or “Stop Light Green Light.” We live simple life. We would ride bikes and go to local parks. We would probably go to Stone Mountain, Maybe. Our time would focus on us and family not so much on being entertained by others.
Our time is precious and valuable, so we spend it together.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God Mikki Wade, he is my Life Coach, Business Coach, and mentor
My mother, Blessed Memory, Gertrude Norris for birthing me and providing the exposure to many life events
My Father, Blessed memory, Salvatore D’Amico (Antonio) for being a part of my early development, and exposing me to true love.
My children Rana, Rasheda, and Brittney for loving me through all the trials and tribulations as I grow to emotional maturity.
Bunny Relerford, for saving my life. Without her I would be dead.
