We had the good fortune of connecting with Baylee Menetre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Baylee, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
I’m not sure if it’s a quote, but I’ve said it more times than I can count. “I’d do hair for free if I could”

• what I mean by this is, I’m so in love with my career as a stylist that I’d do it for free if I could live that way! Hair is more than just a career for me, it’s a passion, an art, and an entire community based on the love of hair!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career is my art. I am an elite stylist who specializes in vivids, blonding, and shortcuts. My career started in atlanta, where I figured out i did not want to be. I soon found my home in a salon, KRB salon and extension bar. Coming to this salon, I had zero clients that weren’t my friend, zero referrals, and barely any knowledge above the basics. I gained my clientele by a lot of word of mouth, social media, and straight up passing my cards out with discounts on them!! I wanted anyone and everyone in my chair, because for me it was all about getting the experience while gaining a client. There were weeks when I’d barely make $300 in two weeks, but I kept pushing and building until fast forward 3.5 years, and I now have a full book, i accept very few specific new clients, and still love my job as much as the first day I stepped into KRB.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some amazing places local to the small town that’s bursting with fun and love!

• meatngreet- if you’re looking for a gormet burger on a small town dime, and a banging blackberry moonshine marg, this is the place to go!!

• kakao cafe- all recipes are family secrets from Ecuador, and the coffee is the best I’ve ever had. A must if you’re in this area!

• senoia- if you’re a walking dead fan, this area is for you!! This small town is where the majority of the show was filmed, and where the governors hold up was! The whole town! Come drive through to see if you’re a true fan!

• downtown newnan- if you love small towns, market days, and beautiful scenery, downtown newnan is the quaintest little town. Walkable, and there is always something going on!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In all honesty, my father is the one who pushed me to pursue my stylist license in the first place. He saw my creative side being suffocated while being in college, and knew I didn’t belong there. Once I took a gap you to figure out what a really wanted to do, he said “try cosmo school, you’re a little weird anyway”. The next day, I was on a tour at Aveda Institute of Atlanta and I’ve never looked back! All the credit goes to my dad for seeing my weird side, knowing I needed to find a home in the artistic world somewhere!
