We had the good fortune of connecting with Arletha Orr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arletha, what is the most important factor behind your success?
What encouraged me to become an author and grief coach was when my family returned to their heavenly home. In 2016, I lost my husband and only two children in a train accident. That was our 3rd year wedding anniversary. My daughter was 7 and my son was 1. A very devastating day for me.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m an Author. Publisher of 5 current books: Live, Best Friends Forever (children’s book on grief), Children’s Affirmation Coloring Book, Teen Affirmation Coloring Book & Black Queens Coloring Book.
Certified Grief Coach – I host a yearly conference where I allow others to come for free, relax and be in the presence of others who have gone through what they’re going through or been through. It is soul prospering. This is where we are allowed to be vulnerable and open to healing. Also, I help others on a day to day basis to reclaim their life of victory.
Publisher – I have a publishing company to help others publish their book and share it with the world. My clients receive global distribution, 100% of their royalties and more.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s not too much in my area but since we’re here, we will visit the MS Civil Rights Museum, catch lunch at maybe…. Manship downtown. Other things to do will be the movies. I will probably take them to the beach, in Gulfport, MS.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say my book, Live! The day after the accident, I was crying out to God because my heart literally felt as if someone was stabbing it with a knife. During that time, God spoke live! That word itself gave me life! It gave me a reason to live. It gave me hope. It gave me joy.
During the lowest moment of my life, God spoke a word to encourage me and give me strength.
