We had the good fortune of connecting with Anson Romney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anson, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks are prominent in every part of our lives. Instead of stressing over the risk of something failing, I like to view it as a good indicator that I’m doing something right. I believe that showing that hesitation is all the motivation you need to say go for it. I think taking a risk truly shows that you love and are dedicated to what you want to do. Risk is a huge factor in my life/career. As an actor you risk a lot of different things. Pursuing an acting career alone is a risk. There are no guarantees of employment EVER. However, taking risks has allowed me to realize that you can try and fail at something you’re not passionate about. So you might as well not settle for less, and take risks that can actually get you where you want to be in your life. So to me, risk makes things exciting, and I believe it’s a valuable part of my journey as an actor.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I am an actor, born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. My mom was a piano teacher and there was a prominent theater community in the Phoenix area. I believe these are two key factors why I ended up pursuing an acting career, and being where I am at today. The large theater community allowed me to gain experience, and build my resume from a young age. I feel like I’ve always kind of known I wanted to be an actor. I didn’t truly consider it as a career until I was around 15 or 16. It’s feels different as a kid because I was doing musicals and plays for fun. It was genuinely the best way I thought I could spend my time outside of my home life. As I’ve grown into my adult life I have realized how much persistence is necessary as an actor. I still try to keep that mindset that I act because I LOVE it. One thing that I still am always trying to overcome is the self doubt that creeps in. It’s hard to put so much preparation and effort into LOTS of auditions and never hear back which leaves you wondering if you’re “good enough.” I’ve helped myself overcome that by looking at it the opposite way, and seeing how far I’ve come through all those auditions. It’s a way to motivate me to work harder, but also validate the hard work I’ve done along the way. I want the world to know that if I am ever fortunate to make this my full time career, that I will do it by being consistent, kind, and passionate.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is such a cool city because there is genuinely SO MUCH to do. You can get a taste of everything. I think if I was to make an itinerary I would definitely include the following places.

-The Vortex Bar
-The Beltline
-Rooftop at Ponce City Market
-Georgia Aquarium (Duh)
-Martin Luther King Memorial
-Stone Mountain
-Plaza Theatre

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! If I were to list and name every person that has helped me get to where I am, it would take a year. I can definitely shoutout a few though. I wanna give a major shoutout to my wonderful parents, my hometown of Mesa, Arizona, Drama Inc, my High School drama teacher Mama Stones, and all my acting coaches, friends, and mentors. Without you, I would have never thought pursuing an artistic career would be possible. What a huge blessing it is to be able to wake up every morning and have something to work towards.
