Meet Anesha Nixon | Lash Technician & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anesha Nixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anesha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I first took interest in doing lash extensions professionally when I was a senior in High school. I knew that since I was going to college I was going to need a side hustle to help pay for college. Taking the certification class to get certified in doing lash extensions was harder than I thought it was going to be. As time went on I thought it was going to get easier but I was highly mistaken. Even though it was hard I knew I wanted to start my own business so that I could be my own boss and work under myself. With me putting my own money into it to take a $300 course I knew my money couldn’t go to waste so that pushed me to keep going. It has now been almost 2 years since I first started doing lashes and I have gotten so much better. Making the decision to become an entrepreneur was one of the best decisions I could have made for myself.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Some people seem to forget is that every Lash tech is different. One thing thats sets me apart from others is that I am very versatile when it comes to different sets. If someone wants a really natural set or a really full and fluffy set I am able to give that to them. I am most proud of myself for getting into this business as early as I did at only 17. With me being focused and perfecting my craft I am so excited for the growth in the future. I got to where I am today by staying motivated and by always being open to learning new things about lash extensions. No, it wasn’t easy in the beginning and sometimes still is very challenging. To overcome those challenges I practice as much as I possible can. I learned quickly that perfection is not going to happen right from the start. You have to continue to practice and be consistent to get better, it’s not just going to be handed to you. With starting a business you soon figure out that you have to spend money to make more money. What i hope for people to take away from my story is to never give up on yourself and continue to build your brand even when you may want to quit. I take pride that my business is very professional at LaNai Minks even though I am young, age is no time limit to success,
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
With Atlanta being such a big city there are so many things you could do. My big thing to do in Atlanta is to try different foods. I would definitely take them to Eight sushi, they have the best fresh sushi there is. After that I would take them to Cascade skating rink, that is a highly known place to go to in Atlanta it has been in many movies. The next place I would try to take them is the Indoor Skydiving.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are two people that I want to give a big thank you to and that is my mother Sabrina and my father Michael. My mother played a big part because she is the one that pushed me to get certified and to not give up when it got hard. My father also played a big part in helping me get started with supplies when I didn’t have it and also motivated me to continue.
