We had the good fortune of connecting with Aliesha Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aliesha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a growing young woman, the thought of building my own empire, while promoting self-empowerment has always been my vision. I’ve always had a gift of creativity. As a visionary my mindset was to become an entrepreneur and develop my craft. As an entrepreneur my mission is to provide quality and effective services towards my clients. A few years back I had no idea how to start, but I knew that it was time to lay the foundation and began the process to becoming a phenomenal boss chick. Attending Central State University afforded me with the opportunity to develop and shape my craft. During my tenure I assisted with the planning and executing various projects. And that’s when I knew that I was following the right path. The experience became something I began to enjoy. It created such a memorable and unforgettable experience. My first self-proclaimed project was introduced as The Centralian Nation Brunch & Day Party, which became an annual event for Central State University Homecoming! And in 2019 Thirteen Forty-Two Events was born. Thirteen Forty-Two Events is a company that focuses on event coordination, management and design. I am certified by The Institute of Wedding & Event Design and have been doing corporate event management for the last two years. My newest project is Madam Le House of Fashion. I will be offering chic, sophisticated , iconic fashions for both men and women. I allow my passion to inspire me, and I allow my work to inspire others. My mission behind my business is to help individuals transform their dreams into reality!

What should our readers know about your business?
Thirteen Forty-Two Events provides connection, inspires action, and defines purpose. The name stems from my grandparent’s address in Dayton,Oh. My grandparents were influential pillars in my life and always encouraged me to follow my dream. They provided me with love and warmness and you always felt . So, it is with great diligence that I honor them. Thirteen Forty-Two Events is a full-service event planning business, we offer event management, planning, and design. My skilled experience includes corporate level and personal events. From HR conferences and city wide events, to personal client celebrations, my experience has provided much flexibility and range! As a graduate of The Institute of Wedding & Event Design, it was during my education and training where I learned to approach every event with the same diligence no matter the sector! I’ve continued that practice with my branding which has brought much success! My brand is still growing and flushing. My team and I are skilled in handling an array of events. The journey has its challenges, but with consistency, patience, and believing in God I have the ability to keep dreaming. My motto in life is to pray, keep the faith, and put action behind my words. The more I stay focused on my goals and my brand, my dream flourishes more and more. For me it’s about creating an unforgettable experience that you and your guest will remember years to come! Creativity, Passion and my Drive is what helps me bring that unforgettable experience to life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
*Plays; Welcome to Atlanta by J.D feat Ludacris* It’s Monday so what’s better than some lemon pepper wet chicken wings from J.R. Crickets or American Deli. Get the ones ready because nothing goes harder than Magic City on a Monday night! Rise and Shine it’s time for a bike ride or light jog on the BeltLine to view the city while the sun is shining. After burning some calories it’s only right to go to El Ponce for some authentic mexican food and margaritas. I love breakfast and it’s the most important meal of the day! Thumbs Up never disappoints the fish and grits with an Arnold Palmer to drink gets me right every time. You can’t come to the south and not eat some great soul food, Busy Bee will make you think your grandma on your mom’s side is in that kitchen cooking! Atlanta is a beautiful city especially lit up at night. To see its true beauty you have to view it at the top of the Centennial Olympic Park Ferris wheel. I love me some good fresh seafood, give me a lobster tail or crab legs boil and I wont say a word but smile ear to ear! Personally before moving to ATL I was taken to Juicy Crab and I had to go every time I visited but it’s not the one in Smyrna I don’t want it! We then will head down to Sun Trust Battery Park for cocktails and play a few games. It’s now the weekend so it’s time to turn up!, but first we must educate ourselves and check out some dope black curators at the High Museum and the Trapp museum one time for the culture. I’m a mid-west girl and we travel to Chi-town for good eats. Harold’s Ice Bar on Edgewood is the closest thing to the mid-west I get while being down here, and you are guaranteed to have a great time. Saturday is meant for day parties, the vibe at Suite Lounge is always correct. It’s never a dull moment, time really flies when you’re having fun. But that appetite will then sneak up on you and my next stop would be OLG Southern Cuisine. On the 7th day not only did he rise but we feel his spirit at House of Hope Church, Dr. Smith gives a message like no other, and overfills your cup each week. Before take off I would suggest Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours for some delicious eats, you might almost miss your flight from the food coma!
