Meet Alexandra Stewart | Model & Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandra, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is keeping my integrity in my relationship with God and being 100% confident in myself no matter how saturated the market may be. Everyone has their own unique gift that they bring to their industry. It is important to me that I am confident in who I am no matter the space I go into. The goal I strive for in every opportunity is to be confident in my authenticity. Being confident in who I am and who I represent is what brings and maintains my success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is mostly based off of the challenges I face and have faced in the past. Something I think sets me apart from others in this industry of modeling and creative direction is standing on my moral ground I will not do any work that sexualizes or exploits me, but only work that embraces the beauty and respect of a woman. I know I am an example for little girls and I don’t ever want to steer them in the wrong direction because of my behavior in my career. I am not willing to do everything and I gracefully set my boundaries with whoever I work with. I deeply enjoy being a breath of fresh air for myself and anyone that I work with. Also, I’m willing to ask for help and take advice from people that are better than me in whatever skill I lack. Being around them doesn’t make me insecure, it makes me excited that I can learn something from them and apply their knowledge and mindset to my career. Something I am proud of is knowing that I came from a very insecure space about my appearance and instead of going further into my shell, I decided to be in the spotlight even more. I do my best to uphold my morals. I’m excited about how far I can go in this industry because I know God is guiding me. When I don’t feel confident in myself, He is confident for me. I am nowhere near perfect and I have so many thoughts of anxiety and insecurities. But I am able to fight past them in every opportunity. I believe I got to where I am today because I love being around people, and I love being myself around people. The same respect I want for myself is what I always give to others in every professional space. It is important to me that I respect their time, energy, dreams, and efforts and I get that in return from other people. This journey is not easy. There are many avenues in modeling creative direction that can take your career to the next level, but at what cost? Most challenges I face are mental battles, such as thoughts of comparison that cause me to be down and insecure about my physical appearance, anxiety, and pride. I overcame these challenges by accepting who I am and putting myself in uncomfortable spaces. Every opportunity helps me grow in my confidence. I am not chosen all the time and while it hurts my feelings I have that acceptance that what’s for me will come to me and I won’t have to beg for it. What helps me with these challenges also is knowing that any time I stay in that negative head space, I don’t perform my gifts the best I can. This pushes me to never waste an opportunity because of my own thoughts and insecurities. One thing I want the world to to take away from my story is that life is never over as long as you have breath. You can change your mentality to make your life better at any moment. I also want to encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone. When we only do things we are comfortable with we don’t advance to the next level. Never assume you have it all together. There is always something to learn. Growth is forever.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friends were coming for the weekend. Some fun things on my list would be the Georgia aquarium, a picnic at Piedmont Park and the High Museum. To eat or drink, I would take them to Midtown, Buckhead, or downtown Atlanta. One of my favorite spots I would take them to is Breakfast at Barney’s for breakfast, for lunch or dinner, Lousiana bistreaux.
I love Afrobeats, so I would take my friends to a Tuesday night at Rock Steady or an R&B night at Block & Drum! I also recommend everyone going to Atlanta basketball games! I also love six flags and whitewater! I think these are great places for people to go. I also enjoy going to any fashion event such as runway shows and art galleries for photographers and models! The Battery in Atlanta is also super fun. There are so many things to do. I enjoy the belt-line as I get exercise, be social, and have any kind of food or drinks I want!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are two people and an organization that deserve credit. The first being God. I wouldn’t be where I am today in my life and career without His continuance guidance, protection and grace throughout my journey. The second person is my mother. Any idea I had she fully supports me and gives me wise counsel. Anytime I had a vision for myself, she is all hands on deck ready to provide anything I need. She also supports and encourages me to do things that I didn’t think were possible for myself. She believes in my dreams and she corrects me when I may try to make a decision that goes against my overall goals. I started my modeling journey in a college organization at the University of West Georgia called The Vogue Academy. I started as a model my first year, advanced to a creative director, then president in the same year. This organization taught me confidence. I was around so many people who believed in me and were fully supportive of me this organization open doors that would’ve been difficult for me to open alone. They embraced me and encouraged me on my path. I will never forget them. Another person I want to mention is the one who takes most of my photos and her name is Morgan June @juneonfilm on Instagram. She is such a blessing and I appreciate her so much. Any vision I have she supports it and brings her talent to help me bring things to life.
