We had the good fortune of connecting with Akirah Renée and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Akirah, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
At the beginning of my career, I thought putting aside at least 1 day where I’m doing something “fun” that doesn’t relate to my artistry would be enough of a mental break. Now, 4 years in, I realize I thrive the most when, weekly, I have my 1 fun activity, at least 1 day where I’m doing NOTHING (including house chores), AND a cut off time, daily, for a mental break and miscellaneous life duties. Now, actually, consistently implementing it has been the challenge
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I find my joy in singing to the SOUL. My sound has been dubbed Neo-Praise, a blend of vibes we all love with God inspired lyrics. I released my debut album, Iridescence, in 2017. It can be found on all platforms. Iridescence was recorded with a live band in the span of about 2 weeks. My sophomore project, One Degree of Glory, is set to release in 2022! For this project I am collaborating with several producers from the Atlanta area. I’m really excited to explore all the new sounds and bring a fresh perspective to my listeners. You can connect with me on all platforms @akirahrenee

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout my bestfriend and, often times, creative director, Vera Nain. She supports me when I feel up against a wall, challenges me when I’m thinking too small, and inspires me daily!!
