We had the good fortune of connecting with Airelle Thornhill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Airelle, how do you think about risk?
“Without risk, there is no reward” – Christy Raedeke
I’ve always believed that without risk, you’ll never benefit from the freedom on the other side. After you take one risk, future risks become easier and easier. You begin to build trust within yourself.
I am no stranger to risks. I moved to Atlanta in 2019 with no job, no place to live, and a little under one thousand dollars to my name. After securing the necessities, I quit my full time job to pursue my business, in the middle of a pandemic.
When it comes to taking risks, I always ask myself, what are you risking if you didn’t try?
Working for someone else took my creative freedom away from me. The 9-5 life made me miserable. Don’t get me wrong, I was very thankful, a regular paycheck and benefits was a blessing, but not working in my passion completely drained my soul.
Ultimately, I think completely believing in the gift I had within myself took me far. I couldn’t ignore that inner voice inside of me telling me to take a risk, make a change.
Creativity is a part of me, it allows me to express myself. I held tight to my faith, and bet on me. Today, the work I’ve done has not only impacted my clients, but the people around me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Thornhill Media Company is a full-service media production company. We assist entrepreneurs and small businesses through branding, digital design and social media strategy. We are passionate about the growth of small businesses and we want to use our creativity to elevate different brands to their highest potential. Through our digital design and content creation services, clients have seen spikes in engagement, followers, and most importantly SALES!
What sets us apart is our forward-thinking and visionary approach. While we offer digital media services, we also offer social media consulting to provide innovative solutions in which clients can increase traffic to their business ultimately increasing exposure to their platform.
Things have not necessarily been easy for me, but I’m driven. I’ll say the hardest part has been figuring it all out – there’s no blueprint to running your business necessarily, but I continue to educate myself and be intentional in the relationships fostered as I cross paths with other small businesses.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I’m not creating, I love to exercise. We’d definitely have to check out the “Oh My Glutes” exercise band class hosted by Mecca Day on Saturdays (IG @_meccca). For fun, we could visit Andretti’s Indoor Karting and Arcade and then finish off at The Eating Spot, a Black-owned restaurant in Marrieta, GA (@the_eatingspot).
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my dad. While he always told me I could do anything, he was the only one who actually showed me it was possible. As a muralist in Richmond, VA, he has beautified the city by putting legends on the walls of the city he grew up in. I thank him for staying dedicated to his craft, his love for his community, and telling the stories of those who came before him has rubbed off on me in more ways than one.
