Meet Aashima Verma | Marketing & Advertising Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aashima Verma and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aashima, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I started out, I used to think that balance is a myth. When I was doing my post graduate studies, I pursued a Co-Op, a digital marketing job and I was also volunteering with the local government for their Clean & Green initiatives along with my school. I believe that it’s important to hustle in the beginning of your career. As Elaine Welteroth puts it, “there is hustle and there is flow. You can’t have one without the other.”
Once I graduated, I got a full-time job with a beauty franchise as a Marketing Specialist. Along with my job, I also ran my business on the side. In fact, I used to be a proud member of the 5AM club. I worked on my day job from 7 to 3 and worked on my business for the rest of the time.
However, my idea of balance has evolved since then. Now, I have been in this industry for over seven years. My business is full time and I have a team I can rely on. Over time, I have also learned the importance of boundaries. In fact, I say no to a lot of things now because I understand that my energy is limited and not everyone should have access to it.
I work during my peak hours and I never work after 5pm or the weekends. As you grow older, you realize the importance of good health and healthy relationships. The truth is that other areas of your life also need your time and energy. So, I try to keep a “balance” but, I also understand that some days can look different than others and that’s okay. Being an entrepreneur requires you to adapt.
What should our readers know about your business?
My ad agency is one of its kind simply because we are not your typical “marketing bros”. We run Facebook & Instagram ads for mission driven woman entrepreneurs. We have even worked with celebrities like Rupi Kaur.
We believe in profits with purpose. Gone are the days when you could just be successful without giving back. We intentionally only work with coaches and course creators who are helping make this world a better place one client at a time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love walks around Harbourfront. I’d take them to this cute cafe! Honestly, I suck at planning. 😛
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandma because she grew up in a small town in India and wasn’t even allowed to have a job simply because she was a woman. She is the one who raised me and told me that I deserved all the opportunities that she didn’t have. She is my biggest cheerleader.
