We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanovia Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chanovia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking has this negative feeling attached to it such as dangerous, harmful, etc. Which in some cases are true. However, If done correctly i.e practicing smart risk-taking, changes the connotation to being a choice, opportunity, growth, etc. I personally like to look at it from both ends of the spectrum because some risks can or cannot be reversible.

Taking risks is playing a major role in my online clothing store “Admire Her’. Every choice I make has some type of risk associated. The biggest risk I take is purchasing my products from different vendors. Not every manufacture or distributer will send customers samples of their garments. So to avoid losing money or wasting my time I have to do research and compare/ contrast before making a decision. I’ve also become an expert on different silhouette styles, fabrics, and colors. This has helped to mitigate the potential of me being at high risk of purchasing bad products.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Admire Her provides clothing for her work and play lifestyle. My boutique is like no other because each garment is selected by me, a wardrobe stylist with other 7 years of styling experience. In addition, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion and Retail Management. Admire Her also offers free shipping for any purchase during specific months and in the near future, we will be the first to offer same-day delivery in Atlanta, GA.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Monday: Breakfast at Barneys Tuesday: Rent a boat at Lake Lanier
Wednesday: The Beltline, Ponce City Market, and Iman Park
Thursday: Brunch Bitch for breakfast, shopping at Lenox & dinner at The Garden Room.
Friday: Best End Brewery for drinks and live music
Saturday: Dancing at Blue Martini
Sunday: Treat Your Feet

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you God for blessing me with strength and the skills to be a successful entrepreneur. Without God there will be no me or any of my businesses.
