We had the good fortune of connecting with Adaeze Orji and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adaeze, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I spent a lot of time encouraging and supporting others to pursue their creative talents, then suddenly I felt a strong desire to publicly express my own creativity. I was promoting for artist, managing, background vocals, or anything they needed to gain the confidence or complete a project. Now I pour that energy into myself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Even though I’m still developing I live for hip hop over an Afrobeats track. I prefer to freestyle most of my songs because I feel my heart thanks me more when I do. I made my first video December 28th 2018 and posted it on Instagram rapping in the car and haven’t stopped hustling ever since. It hasn’t been easy in this male dominated business. I had to learn to stand my ground and not allow them to use my beauty as a weakness or my attraction as a weapon. I’ve watched many guys get free studio time, unlimited support from their boys, radio interviews etc. just from being a friend to a friend. I could stand in that same room and it doesn’t go the same way. I pay for endless things concerning Adaeze Orji and I’m proud of that.
I want the world to know my name & that I’m a first generation Nigerian in America with high hopes and vision of developing as a musical artist, actress and entertainer so help me God.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m taking them straight to the East side! Memorial Dr. Stone Mountain Ga. to “All island Cafe” for some Caribbean food and The African Grill for later. That’s some heavy food but you can appreciate the taste. The African scene is lounge lounge lounge so maybe Ace lounge just to catch a vibe, “main event” for games, cascade skating ring or sparkles in Smyrna, hopefully a Vain ATL event because those are fun and a music video shoot. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
