We had the good fortune of connecting with Julieta Del toro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julieta, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I strongly believe that rituals and habits are the building blocks that over time give fruit to your dream or goal. Some of my habits are taking some time to focus and get clear on my intentions. For example I wake up early around 5 or 6 am and work out before anything; then I fill out my gratitude journal. Which’ grounds me and points me in the direction I need to take to accomplish my goals. These habits give me a sense of victory. That carries on during my work day, making me feel like I am capable of achieving my short term goals for the day and long term goals. A quote that I love and resumes what I just stated is. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” ~ Aristotle

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love art and people. So I set out to create a career where I could be creative and have the social aspect. The beauty industry encompasses all those things, plus it’s constantly evolving which is a massive plus. Something that’s set me apart I believe and allowed me to grow professional has been how much I love ppl and want to make them feel there absolute best.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question, so let’s start with a delicious breakfast at Cultivate Café in west midtown. Followed by a walk on the belt line and perhaps a bit stop at Ponce city market to do some shopping. By this time you might worked up an appetite, a great option for lunch could be at 8arm or Cold beer, after this you head on to the High Museum for a lovely exhibition. And the Perfect way to end the night would be to have dinner and cocktails at Lyla Lila in midtown for a delicious Italian dinner.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am beyond grateful for my mentor and boss, Dyana Nematalla. The founder of Sirene salon and cut Specialist. I was inspired by her even before we ever met. When I first saw her salon and realized that she created that from a thought. Just a regular girl with a vision, who hustled to make it a reality. Then I was lucky enough to be mentored by her and now wok along side Her.
