We had the good fortune of connecting with Deonta Blount and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deonta, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success/success of my brand are my deemed failures. My senior year in high school cheerleading. I gave birth to my son categorized as a teen mom in a box of course and forced to quit my passion. What was considered failure by peers became the driving force for all the decisions for anchoring my success and a brand with unique authentic lady like standards seeking to provide others with opportunities that were limited to me but are widespread on my limitless platform.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey began as a child, I knew entertainment was natural for me so I would compete in local talent shows, cast in school plays, write, and draw. My mother was a stylist and majority of my family was groomed into models because of her background. I started modeling at the age of eight with my older cousins. They were professional models so they would bring their knowledge back and I was always eager to learn. My mother was well know for extravagant hair shows so she would create over the top concepts to win exceptionally against her competition. I fell into cheerleading by middle school as well which led me to becoming an AFL cheerleader. That all set the foundational stage for endless entertainment opportunities as a young adult to include professional modeling, acting in theatre and film, model trainer, producer, radio and television personality. Although I was an all around professional entertainer. I then realized you need to have something to stream income when those acting/model gigs as we call them are not paying enough. So I went to nursing school, got bachelors degree in psychology, and worked in those fields. Still those dreams would not leave my vision. Those driven thoughts of success transitioned me from Columbus, Ga to Atlanta after trying to conform as most people marriage with young children at the time. My best friend by that time was already there. The move changed my entire life. It birth me into taxes in operations with Xpert Tax Service LLC Stone Mountain Georgia and becoming a business owner in other areas to include Co Founder of Reach 4 Your Dreamz Inc servicing the community in masses. This was rewards with accolades, I would have never saw coming looking at my entertainment background. That was a challenge in itself when I started getting lost in money in business sending my dreams and passions to the bare minimum. God told me if I took a walk on the business side with my friend it would come back full circle in entertainment. I listened and over a decade later business knowledge provided multiple streams of income, extensive opportunities, and a talk show Gwen’s Business Corner With Deonta B with our own GBC channel currently on Fox 54, Roku, Amazon, Apple, and Android. A platform that provides resources and tools in business and entertainment to aspiring entrepreneurs. The lessons included prayer, patience, and passion. Something I now live by based on my own real life experiences. I was able to overcome with those three tools that I share with the world of entrepreneurs for years to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friends were visiting. The day would be filled with positive vibes to jog their passions. It would start with conversations to catch up being that we are so busy. When I see them I missed engagements, break ups, and new ventures or moves. Since we love beauty and pampering massages at Je Ju gives some of them a big shocker, waxes at Rio Body Wax, and a vision board would have to be the life of the intimate house party. I love wine so cheers is always somewhere in the mist. I love creating unique things so my wine glasses probably have their names on them. I probably provided them all with meaningful pajamas that say Boss Babe in case they decide to crash. I am so much fun at home that we probably planned to go to Harold’s Chicken but I threw on some of my favorite artist Beyoncé with a little Jeezy to rap a few and started karaoke so we never made the going out cut. The few days we finally make it out to The Melting Pot, The Suite Lounge, and simple me IHOP before we fall asleep from the stay cation. The last few days we are breakfast at Another Broken Egg shopping at Ross, Perimeter Mall, Burlington, and Tanger because I need those bargains. Lastly let’s hit those cabins in North Ga Mountains to meditate before we all get back to the grind and the next girls trip.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my team of true soldiers Gwennetta Wright & Tiffany Wright. With them my continued success has been possible and aside of all the things we do together in business they are my biggest cheerleaders in entertainment. The true meaning of hold you down. Shout out to my grown children Jamanta Brooks and Lashanti Blount. Thank you for your sacrifice, respect, and understanding to your mothers grind. Lastly, Shout out to my mother Thelma Jean Belt. Thank you for first hand demonstration that I could be anything in the world that I believed on a daily bases. The recognition is all yours simply because you walked in entrepreneurship first and definitely led the way for countless people including me. A hair stylist for over fifty years that never punched a clock and retired from a business that never failed forever present in sickness and health. I salute your support, sacrifice, and living legacy. This is your story.
