We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerri J. Baldwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kerri J., why did you pursue a creative career?
When asked this question my response is always the same. I didn’t choose this passion but the passion was instilled in me. God given talents cannot be dismissed or forgotten. There’s No timimg, circumstance or misfortune that can keep you from your purpose. BEing a creative allows me to share my gift through various platforms. I’m a giver by nature and being an actor has allowed me to inspire, encourage and uplift others. I’ve been doing this for a lifetime and walked away several times because my career hadn’t progressed in my time. Trusting in God and understanding his purpose for my life has given me clear direction. Never allow Man to determine for you what is already predestined by God. Only God knows, and now the world does too, that I would’ve never chose this path for myself because it’ requires Teflon skin. If it were easy, everyone who be doing it.

I consider myself not just an actress but a multi media personality considering I have a great amount of experience in theater, commercials, live sports hosting & reporting, teleprompter, the use of ear wigs ( prank shows) , radio & tv voice overs, print, billboards and of course scripted projects, where my focus lies now. It’s definitely an advantage having these various skill sets which add substance to my overall performances. There’s always work in this industry!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Easy, NO! Worth it, absolutely! My journey is unique & different in that I’ve had other careers simultaneous to pursuing my passion. In addition, I’m a single mother of two who provides for my Mother as well. I carry a lot of responsibility and yet it hasn’t hindered or derailed my love of acting. I have an amazing support system in my mother who helps me to manage my busy life. It truly is a family affair when it comes to us each pursuing our talents. We help one another, support one another & learn from each other. Recently my son left for his freshmen year of college so My 10 year old daughter & my mother are learning the techniques and the craft of putting my auditions on tape. My son was quite the director and was able to tape me effortlessly while Mom & Korri ( daughter) are finding their way! It’s a collective & team effort! They’ll catch on soon but I’m grateful to have them by my side!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve been in Atlanta for almost 18 years and my favorite restaurant and hang out spot when the weather is nice is Eclipse Di Luna in Miami Circle. The tapas are delicious, the live band on Fridays is good and the ambiance is great! Plus it’s tucked away, almost hidden for a nice yet intimate experience. Anyone who’s ever visited me in the “A” gets to go there!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Shout Out is dedicated to the late, great, JoAnna LaSane, my first Acting Instructor at The Atlantic City Children’s Theatre. She saw something in me at 5 and watered it. Her influence, guidance and teachings were so instrumental to my growth & development. She was such a talented & classy lady who demanded excellence. I still utilize several exercises and tools that she taught me when I’m studying my sides and trying to memorize my lines prior to an audition. Mrs. LaSane was very big on pronunciation and would have you repeat a word over and over again until you said it correctly. I appreciate her perfection and truly hope that I’ve made her proud. 🙏🏽
