We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to help people explore the world at a reasonable cost on their terms. A lot of people think that certain destinations are out of their reach or that its too expensive and I wanted to make it possible for them to go everything they want to go.

What should our readers know about your business?
A Getaway to Remember, LLC is a independently owned Travel Agency specializing in customized vacations, group trips, cruises, honeymoons and Destination Weddings. I started my journey in 2015 with my loyal now retired business partner Larry Hauk. He took me in and taught me the ropes. With my marketing background and my drive to be the best, we went from 10 clients to over 3,000 as of today. Even though Travel and fun is what I sell, SERVICE is what I deliver.

The biggest challenge was to learn how to work with so many different personalities. My business started with just working with my family and friends and now I have clients all of the world with different backgrounds, personalities and expectations. I have learned to have patience with everyone. In life you can’t assume that people know certain things, so I had to learn to slow down and start each conversation with a blank canvas, helping my clients bring together the perfect getaway.

I want the world to know that I have truly found my passion. I enjoy helping people plan that trip on their bucket list or that Dream Wedding and seeing the pictures when they come back! Its not about the money for me but the experience I bring to each person I work with. I am dedicated to finding ways to evolve in this ever changing world to better the next persons experience as well as my own.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I currently live in the DMV area right out of Washington, DC. This is one of the hottest destinations to visit! There are so many things to see and do but here is what I would recommend.

Monday- National Museum of African American History and Culture (You need the whole day)

Tuesday- Taco Tuesday on H Street! You must visit Sol Mexican Grill for the $2 Tacos!

Wednesday- Karaoke at Harlot DC Lounge & Restaurant on U street is a MUST, great vibes and drinks! And its Instagram worthy!

Thursday- Happy Hour at The Park on 14th is the hottest spot on a Thursday! They have the best Jerk wings and Mac n Cheese with a nice drink to pair with it!

Friday- Shopping in Georgetown during the day! And a late Happy Hour and dinner at Air Bar & Lounge

Saturday- Brunch at Ben’s Next Door is always popping followed by a day party at Brooklyn on U

Sunday- Wine down with tour of the National Mall and dinner at Georgia’s Brown. Or the Drag Brunch at Nellie’s is great entertainment.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my Husband Maurice Taylor, we have been together 14 years and he has always supported my dreams (whatever they may be that day, LOL). With long hours and sometimes longer nights helping clients, he is always there to support me mentally, physically and creatively. I may not say it all the time but I thank you!
