We had the good fortune of connecting with Alfred Broome and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alfred, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was tired of being stressed out and under paid, Knowing I had a talent that I could get paid from and enjoy doing.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a licensed professional barber and shop owner. What sets me apart is authenticity and passion. I’m most excited about the realization that faith coupled with work can get you anything you desire in this world. I got to where I am today by foresight and the help of a multitude of great people. In hindsight it was fairly easy but the reality had a lot of ups and downs. Plenty of mistakes and missed opportunities along with financial hardships and many many personal decisions that no one around me could understand. I learned that life is all about picking yourself up when your down, and moving forward with no real sense of direction. I learned that friendship is fickle and love for one’s self and family will carry you through. I’d like the world to know that people can change their trajectory and that the PLAYERS LOUNGE BARBER SHOP is the dopest shop in LOS ANGELES!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course the Player’s Lounge Barber Shop would be the first stop on the itinerary. That’s where you’ll find a dope conversation and even doper people. After we get you fresh and get your spirit tuned up we’d hit the streets of LA. Spend a little time bar hopping by beach’s and eating some good food either at Wii Jammin on Pico or Colleen’s fish on Adams. After we eat I’d check in with some of the homies from around the way to see if anything is popping in the hood. Next, stop by Cookies on Melrose for some good green to puff on and continue our mission. Depending on the weather and what day of the week it is we could catch up to the many car and bike clubs and enjoy the artistry of the street life, car and bike culture in LA. Along the way we’ll come across countless murals and street art throughout the city. Each one representing that neighborhood’s culture and vibe. The week would be filled hiking trails, museums, studios and of course more good eating. A good week in Los Angeles must include Magic Mountain, Disney Land or Knotts berry farm. Depending on the time of year we could catch a game down at Dodger Stadium or the Crypto center or party the night away in the streets of Hollywood.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out my Dad, Trevor Grahm, Maurice Manley, Carl Webber, Tridestined films and all my business partners at The Player’s Loung Barber Shop. All mentioned were and are intricate in my career as a barber/Stylist.
