We had the good fortune of connecting with Shemera Sinkfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shemera, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
By the end of our career?….well I pray to have made the best impact that created positivity, self confidence, self love, and peace. Once we are comfortable in the skin that at we are in, that is when the best us comes out and we begin to unlock every gift or talent we were given. And starting with photography and video, we are able to help others see their gifts unlock….along with bridging the gap between lifestyle, technology, and travel.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew up calling myself ” The Renaissance Woman.” I did it because I knew for a FACT that there way no one specific thing to categorize myself in. I knew that I wanted to tap into multiple things (or as I said then, take over everything.) Along with being a serial entrepreneur, I am a substitute teacher (After School Program) and a cashier at Cascade Skating Rink. Every position that I have been in, has prepared me for where I am and preparing me for where I am going. This is NOT for the weak. You have to find BALANCE and not over exhaust yourself. Pray at ALL TIMES of the day. On this journey, I have learned that I am not everyone else and I can’t treat myself or think like I am. My pace is my pace and I can’t make myself make moves like others. The Mera Mera Network brand is built on love and to create the BEST version of ourselves.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
WHY WOULDN’T I START OFF WITH CASCADE SKATING RINK! go ahead and get your knee pads, Bengay, etc…whatever you feel you would need. Then we would have to go to little 5 point (Lil 5 pizza is one of my favorite pizza spots) Ponce City Market is nice for a stroll and It wouldn’t do any justice if we didn’t go to Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary. That is a must.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As a serial entrepreneur myself (Photographer/Videographer, Travel Agent, and Ambassador for a tech company) I would have to give credit to my twin, Yashemera Wright, without her, there would be no Mera Mera anything. Lol. We are what make the business. We are mirror twins. She is right handed and I am left handed, so it worked for us being able to handle both ends when it came to business. She is literally the balance needed in my life. Now as a mother and serial entrepreneur, I admire her strength even more. No shameless plugs here. You definitely have to check out Mera Mera Luxuries for your beauty products, 100% handmade whipped shea butter, facial sprays, lipglosses, etc…My little sister, Joi Sinkfield, who is so new to the entrepreneurial world, but doing her thing is someone else I have to give credit to. She released her own drink line, Joi Juice, and is definitely picking up momentum in the world. My best friend Elizabeth Elliott plays a major role in my life as a serial entrepreneur and mother, with her event decor company, E3 Events, and her own Financial Services company.
