We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Crews and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matthew, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Business owners must be risk takers by nature. I have had plenty of time to think that maybe I should have kept my good job, eventually retired, and maybe started a business in my golden years. A lot of the people who I worked with back in my steady job years, did retire. But a lot of them died shortly thereafter. Things are not always as they seem.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Georgiaemsacademy is fairly recognizable. What started out as a website eventually grew into a mobile training group, that eventually was able to offer Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and for 5 years Paramedic. Georgiaemsacademy has offered training in all but 2 of the States EMS regions and since 2011 have taught over 1000 students. Georgiaemsacademy has stopped roaming all over the Georgia and has a home in Dunwoody, Georgia where we teach Emergency Medical Technician and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to recognize my Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Holbrook. Dr. Holbrook has been a stolid supporter of what we’ve been trying to do at georgiaemsacademy since 2006.
