We had the good fortune of connecting with Aqeila Shepherd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aqeila, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My companies: The Luxe Concierge Physical Medicine, PLLC and Luxe Life Wellness, PLLC are constructed with maximum healthcare evolution- at the crux of their foundations. Not only are we transitioning towards a higher and enlightened state of existence; we’re finding that it’s absolutely necessary for survival. The old way of approaching health and wellness is outdated, primitive, and ineffective. The COVID pandemic shed an unavoidable light on the deficits of our current healthcare models and systems, and now it’s time for change.

It’s time to do away with doing things based on “tradition” or “how they’ve always been done”, and begin to create and rely on solutions that advance, evolve, and solve.
I am absolutely determined to integrate healthcare with mindfulness practices, a whole-person perspective, reliance on factual and up-to-date clinical, research, and scientific data that actually has highly impactful statistical outcome improvements.
Let’s tackle the “taboo” subjects, let’s make healthcare guidance relatable, let’s get brave about speaking openly about sexual health, mental health, and children’s health.
So when asked about the social impact of my companies and how they help the community and the world, my answer is simply:
I am making it my life’s mission to revolutionize healthcare, and to be a living example of that revolution. I will accomplish exactly that, or die trying. In all honesty, the only foreseeable outcome from my vantage point is: success, and passing the legacy torch to the next generation to make it even better- then I’ll pass on peacefully. 🙂

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The artistic application of what I do lies in the ability to understand people, life, and the concept of happiness. It rests further on the foundation of love.
Love for people, life, concepts, experiences, thoughts, passion, the expression of talents, etc.
This along with the fusing of my love for knowledge and complex concepts, my ability to communicate with different types of persons, my unapologetic personality, craving of truth and evolution, loving people and spreading the love that we are in dire need of, my objective perspective, philanthropic nature, and spiritual development- are what make me unique, and are also the qualities that I am most proud of.
I got to where I am today because I never see quitting as an option. I don’t accept no for an answer, I read continuously, and I take personal initiative, self-discipline, and going the extra mile to the next level (3 of the 13 Napoleon Hill keys to success).
I overcame challenges by being determined to take accountability for how I needed to grow to match the demands of my dreams and aspirations.
The lessons that I’ve learned along the way are that a team is absolutely necessary. Many times we cap our ability to grow our businesses because we wear too many hats. A team will help you think of the ideas that your brain may have missed. A team will help you will the war over a battle. A team will help you to be in more places at once, so that they can operate while you network and market as the face of your business.
We also must move away from the thoughts of “only I can do that”, to asking ourselves how many of our roles and duties we can train someone else on; and create as many replicas of self as possible.

What I want the world to know of my brand and story, is that I refuse to participate in the concept of defeat- everyone should.
We may fall, we may get tired, and we may want to give up- but that’s no business for your dreams.
I want people to know that conformity is one of the greatest weaknesses to participate in. The moment that I stopped asking for permission and looking at how everyone else is doing a particular thing- is the moment that my life changed forever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Major yikes. Haha I’m not the traditional social type, but here goes:

– 21C museum in Durham, NC – to eat, sip some libations, and view the art exhibit.

– Walking, taking a walk on the American Tobacco Trail- bring the snacks and the tunes, and let’s get moving and appreciate some nature!

– Enjoying a nice lunch at Zweli’s Kitchen in Durham, NC for some authentic Zimbabwean cuisine!

– Watching a documentary on Netflix about any of the following: aerospace technology, theoretical physics, psychology, sociology concepts, nature, etc

– Introduce them to the Neorhythm headband (neuro-hack device)

– Find some live music at a jazz bar

– Take a cooking class together

– Go to a comedy show

– Grab some artisan cocktails

– Find some spoken word and/or poetry
