We had the good fortune of connecting with SY and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SY, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
I Believe The Most Difficult Decision I’ve Ever Had To Make Was Learning To Let People Go That Didn’t Benefit Me In Anyway Whether It Be Close Friends Or Family…

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Form Of Art I Create Is Through Music And I Go By The Artist Name Of “SY”. I Started Out Playing Piano Everyday When I Was Around 6 Years Old , Learning Through My Older Brother By Watching Him Play. Everyday He Would Go To Work I Would Sneak Into His Room To Play As Much As I Could Because I Didn’t Have One Of My Own Yet But I Didn’t Care. I Just Loved How I Could Create Beautiful Melodies By Pressing Different Keys. As I Began To Grow Over The Years And Evolve Into Discovering That Music Was Becoming My Passion I Started Learning How To Produce Beats , DJ , Engineer My Own Records And Others As Well. Around 17/18 Years Old I Started To Fall Back From DJing And Producing Beats For Awhile To Focus On Finding/Creating My Sound As An Artist Up Until Now & Eventually Released My First EP In 2020. Was It Easy? Honestly I Wouldn’t Say No Or Yes But It Is Definitely A Process. If You Have Strong Intentions About Something That You Truly Want Then You Have To Be Willing To Stay Consistent And Trust Yourself Completely No Matter What Other People May Think. One Thing That I’ve Learned Along My Journey For Sure Is That Not Everyone That Is Around You Is Really There To Elevate You And They Could Be Even The Closest Ones To You But Keep Your Head Up Through Everything Because It Always Gets Better.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For A Week Long Trip I’d Definitely Show Them Around Atlanta Because There Is Always Something To Do Out There! I’m More Of A Mellow Outdoor & Indoor Activity Kind Of Person So I’d Probably Take Them Out To Different Parks Like Piedmont Or Centennial, Check Out The Zoo, Museums, And Eat Some Good Food From Any Place Like Jinya , Slutty Vegan , Sugar Factory, Or Many Other Good Spots In The Area

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I Would Like To ShoutOut Everyone Around Me That Has Been A Guide In My Life To Help Me Elevate From Then Up Until Now!
