We had the good fortune of connecting with Javé Christie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javé, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Without risk, there is no reward, Life favours those who like to take risks ( Legally ). Back in 2015 I worked within a Marketing Agency / Night Club where I was the head Graphic Designer, I spent 12 hours plus there on a daily basis. A few months later I thought to myself I needed a raise for the hours I inputed, I have all this knowledge and the skillsets required to take on the road by myself, From there i started to save with the end goal being ( A iMac, A Printer, A Cheap Plastic Computer Table and my dad did Upholstering so he built me a computer chair ). I worked at this same agency until i felt i had enough funding available to branch off on my own and see what that world felt like, I did not save any ( WHAT IF THIS GOES WRONG MONEY ) .. I knew that it had to work, either this or nothing at all.

A few years later here i am, Grammy Viewed Artwork, Billboard Viewed Artwork, Working with some of the biggest names within Reggae / Dancehall arena ( Jamaican Music ), Working with Grammy Award Winning / Grammy Nominated Producers.. Being able to work with US based companies as a Jamaican Graphic Designer and still managed to remain relevant throughout the years and being apart of big projects.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others I believe is my passion for the industry itself and being in love with art from as young as age 8 or 9. Everything inspires me and I had the best at the time in Jamaica learning from.

What I am most proud of is seeing my work cross International barriers time and time again, It’s one thing to see your artwork posted around on a normal basis but to see it on the screens of GRAMMY & Billboard Hot 100, That for me is very satisfying as a proud Jamaican.

The journey has definitely been one for the books and it pays to learn. I got where I am today because of perseverance and the ability and will power to stay immensely focused throughout and to also remain patient. We all are aware that within the creative industry us as creatives are taken for granted many times, persons using our work without full payment etc etc.. but once more the love and the drive you have for the industry allows you to understand that it is apart of the game but there are variables you have to implement to not allow these things to happen.

The main lesson I learnt in all my 16 years of Graphic Designing is always remain patient, continue to press hard, find new ways of how to enhance your creativity as an individual.

The first thing I want the world to know is, I am Jamaican. My brand isn’t strictly graphic designs, We also do Social Media Marketing on a large scale basis, Web Development, Content Creating, Some Video Editing..

My story serves as reference to show that with passion and the ability to persevere will bring you success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since being in Atlanta I am more so a home based person but some of my favourite spots in Atlanta are, Rum Punch Brunch on Sundays for partying purposes, going bowling on Saturdays and also visiting the zoo. Carrying my friend to see the Centennial Olympic Park. If we are dining, to me I think the best ambiance and food I’ve seen and tasted in Atlanta is the Drawbar at Bellyard.
