We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was simple. I wanted to work for myself and be able to provide opportunities for people aspiring to be artist or creators. I’m also thinking about leaving a legacy for my children in any endeavors I choose to pursue.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I began doing music as a young child in the church choir. I would say what sets me apart from others is the authenticity in my music. The same way I have a conversation with you is exactly how my music is presented. Most artist try to fit a certain sound or wave, I am not one of those artists. I do what I feel, and my approach is to be relatable as possible. Having the right people in your circle that motivate you and share common interest is part of why I am here today. I haven’t dropped any music consistently, yet, I am still known in my area. I still get a good reception and engagement when I pull up to these venues and events. As far as challenges, I feel I’ve went through the same challenges we all face. Whether it’s fake people, finances, health issues, I dealt with many challenges during this journey. You just learn how to accept people for who they are and treat them accordingly. Always know that your peace is important.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In my city there’s plenty of places we can go. If you like food San Antonio is the perfect place. We got the riverwalk, the alamo dome. Six Flags and Sea world. There’s water parks here outside the city. If you’re staying for awhile you either want to airbnb or stay at the Hyatt Regency downtown. We have a few upscale clubs here. Miami Bar, Lush, or Ivory Lounge, V Lounge. Just depends on your mood and what you like to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Man, that is a long list of people. If I had to chose one person I would say my mother. My mother instilled this self reliant, self sufficient attitude in me at an early age. She’s been going to school and progressing in her nursing career since I was a pre teen. She now owns two clinics, has a line of meal preps and health supplements and part of owner of a restaurant she started with my aunt. Having her around, seeing how relentless her pursuit was in accomplishing her goals motivated me to start my own business. She put all the books in my hand, she took me to her presentations and seminars where she would be teaching students about medicine and nursing.
