Meet Nyia Brinae | Make up artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nyia Brinae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nyia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to be in the beauty industry. I didn’t exactly know how but I knew I wanted to start and be great at it. I also knew I wanted to be my own boss, I was tired of working and being unhappy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most proud that I’ve did this on my own and with the help of God. I created a name for myself, and will continue to do so. It was not easy, it’s still not easy. I think any one who runs a business will tell you that you will have good days, but you will have bad days to. I want the world to know that I worked my butt off to be where I am, and will continue to do so.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to this dope lounge in buckhead called the Hide. They have great food, and a really chill environment. The music is great. I would also take her to an art museum, I think we have some dope art in the city. We are definitely going to Fat Tuesday because I love that place. We would check out a spa. We would just have an amazing time.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’’m currently going through one of the worst loss of my life. I’ve never experienced grief like this, so I want to dedicate this to my brother Omar. I love him, and the rest of my story will be to make him proud.
