We had the good fortune of connecting with Shiketa Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shiketa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business was a divine assignment from God. I was in a career that i loved and while in my basement in 1998 I was doing laundry and I heard the voice of God say, start a daycare. I rejected it at first and 6 months later I left my job as a Medical Assistant. In December 1998, I opened my Child Care Business with only $600.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My child care business started in my home 22 years ago. In 2003 the business grew into a 1600 square ft commercial location. For 12 years I operated a child care center. It was rough I struggled as a leader, however as I grew as a Leader, my business grew. In 2014 I opened my dream location with the help of my husband. That dream location was 6,600 square feet. In 2016 we grew again to 2 locations. In 2018 my husband and I moved to Atlanta with a dream to expand into Atlanta. In March 2021 that dream became a reality! We plan to Open our Atlanta location in August 2021. Business growth has increased my Faith and it also has inspired me to write books and inspire other business owners. The journey journey has not been easy but through prayer and trusting God, the business is still growing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love living in Atlanta. My family love to come to our home because we love to give our family and friends a tour of Atlanta. I would take my family to Copelands or a new Orleans style brunch. We also love to eat breakfast at Gritz in McDonough. A great place to hang out is at Piedmont park and the Ponce Building to be on top of the city. Another great place that we love to take family is the Dr.King Center. You never get bored in Atlanta!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to all my family and friends that believed in me and that covered me in prayer.
