We had the good fortune of connecting with Zo Doe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zo, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is “it’s ok to not be ok”. Plenty of times especially as men, we tend to not show our feelings or express the way we feel at times, creating a hard interior and exterior. What we don’t know is keeping that all in can cause stress, cause you to be depressed and so much more. At a point we have to start letting those things out so that we can keep our mental and physical health in tact. This quote means letting the world see that even though you are not at your best at times, it’s ok
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What set me apart from others is my ability to not give up and without me realizing that sometimes in life support will come from strangers , I don’t think I would have this much success. I’m most excited that I made a pact with myself , that by the age of 25, I would have graduated college , which I graduated radio broadcasting school in 2017, have started my own entertainment company providing entertainment affordable needs to those in the industry (started in 2016) and just be accomplished in life . It wasn’t always that easy though. Growing up I always felt like the black sheep of the family, the one that was left out of everything. I felt alone and unwanted by so many people , till this day I still feel the same way. Being in this industry I learned it’s very cutthroat, so I used that and applied it to real life , and understood that sometimes you have to make it for yourself and not worry about who is not supporting you . I wanted to give up so easy but I had to realize that, nobody is going to make sure I’m good but me, so I couldn’t give up because I would be giving up on myself . I learned that without struggle, you can’t succeed. My story and my brand is a unique one. It’s bringing you all your entertainment needs and helping those that can’t afford or the less fortune out and making a difference . Zo Doe Entertainment
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well my Bestfriend lives in the same state as me lol. When we decide to go out , we like to do things , that’s of substance and fun. Dealing with mental health, my first thought is always, going to the lakefront. The calmness and just overall life feeling you get walking and enjoying the weather is always a good way to have the best time ever. After the lakefront , we’ll go to one of our favorite restaurants (Dennys or T.G.I. Friday’s ) and order different varieties of food that we both like . Some of the most fun places to go would be anywhere downtown Chicago . This city has so much to offer and so much to do that you have to enjoy living here.
Of course I can’t leave out the best clubs, Jo’s Bar and Grill located in Merrillville Indiana and Let’s Play Sportsbar and Grill located in Harvey Illinois , lol not because I work there but because you’ll have a good time there with no drama involved, a great atmosphere.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mom , Wanda gets the biggest S/O for bringing me into this world and making sure that I had everything I need in life. She gets my highest honor.
I have to give a huge shoutout to my brother who have been a real teacher/mentor to me since being in this promotion business for 6 years Ren. I’ve learned so much and have been in so many winning positions in this industry because of him. What’s understood doesn’t have to be explained. Give my highest honor to him because he didn’t have to do that for me and put me in those positions to win but he did.
Last but not least, my fav bad girl from Bad Girls Club season 7 Tiara. My career got started from me being one of her top fan pages when the show was on and that led me to being an intern for a individual on a spin-off show of BGC and I started my radio career that same year
