We had the good fortune of connecting with Zidane Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zidane, why did you pursue a creative career?
I wanted to pursue music because there was a point in time where I felt misunderstood. It was hard to express my feelings and thoughts to people without seeming crazy. Music gave me the ability to express my emotions through an idiosyncratic lens and styles of sonnets that are pleasing to the ear. Music serves as my outlet to not only create but to share in a community through eccentric concepts that are unique to each person that I meet. I look at music as a love language. I believe it helps me connect and empathize with people locally and globally, intimately and transparently.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community? What do you feel sets you apart from others?
I believe what sets me apart from my peers is the passion I have for my music. I believe my intentions are always pure when creating art and I always avoid mediocrity. I love innovating with my art and creating blemishes of different sounds that people can enjoy. It is a challenging process but I love creating opportunities to break boundaries because it can bring new and refreshing sounds to the world. Discovering newfangled sounds in my music can get overwhelming at times but It’s the risk I’m willing to take in order to elevate. Being a creative is never easy. I’d be lying to you if I were to say that I feel inspired every day . However, I believe having a good support system along with faith has helped me maintain balance in life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are countless attractions that can be enjoyed around the city of Atlanta. I would first take my friend biking near Piedmont Park or the Ponce City Market near the beltline. I believe it would be a good exercise on a nice sunny day. Then I would take them to the High Art Museum to look at the vibrant and beautiful art created by skillful influencers. Finally, I would take them to Slutty Vegan to devour a satisfying meal full of flavor that is unique to Atlanta.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a Shout out to my family. I am grateful for My Mom, Alex, Kash and Jody. They have supported my passion since the beginning. As an artist I believe this type of unconditional love and support is the best thing to have especially on days when I find it hard to give my best. I would also love
to give a shout out to LonerNation brand which consist of Khari, Bryce, Jayden and Sam. They are my motivators and have inspired me to strive for excellence through my work ethic and daily family life.

Finally, I would like to give a Major shout out to the collective which I am a part of that is filled with nothing but talent, called UglyNAtlanta. Since the day I met them, UglyNAtlanta have been a major driving force in my creativity and boldness as an artist. They have surrounded me with nothing but love and positive energy, which have helped me grow as an artist and a young adult.
