We had the good fortune of connecting with Windy Locke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Windy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For me, travel has never just been about the destination, it is about the transformation along the way. Traveling the world with my son showed me just how deeply these experiences can move us. When I thought about starting Inspired Escapes by Windy, I envisioned a business that helps people reconnect with wonder, with each other, and with themselves. My thought process was simple: if travel could move me so profoundly, it could do the same for others. I wanted to be the bridge that makes those experiences possible, creating meaningful, once-in-a-lifetime journeys that stay with people forever.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Inspired Escapes by Windy, I create journeys that are truly uniquely for each traveler. Travel is not just about the destination, it’s about how you want to feel when you arrive and throughout your journey. While anyone can book a trip online or use apps for recommendations, those tools cannot listen to your stories, anticipate your needs, or craft a journey that feels completely personal.

Africa holds a special place in my heart and in my work. Traveling there with my son has been deeply transformative, showing me how immersive experiences can inspire connection, reflection, and wonder. These journeys shape the way I design trips for all of my clients, helping them step into experiences that feel personal, intentional, and life-changing. Whether it’s a safari, a cultural immersion, or a remote adventure, Africa represents the kind of meaningful, life-shaping travel that I love to create through Inspired Escapes by Windy.

Building the business has been largely referral-based, and growing a brand and clientele is not something that happens overnight. Over time, as I have defined what transformative travel means to me, I have refined my business to focus on planning journeys that reflect my vision and values. This allows me to work with aligned clients who want meaningful, personal experiences, rather than anyone booking any trip.

What I want people to know is how incredible it feels to see the world. I know travel can feel overwhelming or uncertain, but I handle every detail of your trip as if it were my own, so you can relax and enjoy the journey knowing I’ve got you covered. With Inspired Escapes by Windy, you not only get a thoughtfully designed journey but also concierge-level care throughout your travels, so you feel supported and cared for every step of the way. I understand that these experiences are more than vacations, they are stories you live, remember, and carry with you forever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you ask me for a full Atlanta itinerary, I might have to send you an invoice since that’s my day job, after all! But as someone born and raised in metro Atlanta, I love sharing a few of my favorite spots with out-of-town friends, like the charming streets and laid-back local vibe of Inman Park.

For dining, South City Kitchen in Midtown is a go-to for a little taste of upscale Southern food, and I recently discovered Nature’s Village, a Middle Eastern spot just outside the perimeter that is absolutely worth the drive. If we’re grabbing drinks with a view, 9 Mile Station at Ponce City Market is always a hit. It has amazing skyline views and a fun, lively atmosphere. And of course, wandering the Atlanta BeltLine, taking in murals, parks, and people-watching, is one of my favorite ways to soak in the city’s personality. As a yogi, I’d also have to bring them to a class at Sathya Hot Yoga and Wellness. It’s one of my favorite places to reset and recharge.

For me, showing friends Atlanta is about mixing great food, local culture, and little surprises you wouldn’t find in a guidebook. It’s those authentic experiences that make the city feel special.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To begin with, I’d like to thank my son, Tyson. He’s truly the best travel partner I could ever ask for. No matter where we go, whether it’s sleeping under the Northern Lights in a glass igloo in the polar Arctic or exploring the wilds of Africa, he’s always up for the adventure. Traveling with him has made every journey more meaningful, and I feel lucky to see the world through his eyes. He is the reason I wanted to create Inspired Escapes by Windy.

I am also grateful for the travelers who trust me with their journeys. Every family, couple, and solo adventurer who steps on a trip I have planned reminds me why I do this work.
