Meet Vernita Buie | Best selling author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vernita Buie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vernita, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent is show my children what it looks like to write your own story, literally and through the life you live. I lead by example. My kids don’t just hear me talk about discipline, service, and ambition they see me embody it every day. Whether I’m in the clinic helping patients, volunteering at community events, training for a race, serving in my community, traveling the world, or studying for my doctorate, they see firsthand what commitment and integrity look like.
As an author, I even create books with characters based on them, so they grow up seeing themselves as leaders and heroes. I’ve worked hard to break generational cycles, choose healing, and build a home where they are seen, heard, and loved. More than anything, I want my children to understand that they are powerful, limitless, and capable of creating their own chapters in life, just like I create theirs.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is storytelling with purpose. Through GC4 Enterprises, I create children’s books that turn my kids into the heroes of their own adventures. My titles Daniel and Aaron Go on a Vacation, The Misadventures of Gabrielle and Arielle, and my affirmation journal Reconnect the Disconnect are all rooted in love, legacy, and representation. Seeing them available on platforms like Barnes & Noble has been one of my proudest moments as an author. I didn’t do it alone. I’m blessed to work with my former medical assistant teacher/ Friend whose publishing company helped bring my books to life. Her guidance opened the door for me, and I’m grateful for the belief she had in my vision.
The journey wasn’t easy I was writing while raising my children, working in healthcare, healing, and growing, but it taught me that purpose always makes room for you. What I want the world to know is simple: my brand is built on intention and legacy. My art is my voice, my books are my gift, and my story is proof that you can create something meaningful no matter where you are in life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to every person, space, and moment that poured into me when I was running on empty. My story is not just mine it’s built on community, mentorship, faith, and divine alignment. My children are my greatest motivation; they inspire every chapter I write, both in life and through GC4 Enterprises, my publishing company where I turn their personalities into powerful characters. Seeing those stories available on platforms like Barnes & Noble has been a blessing and a reminder that purpose always makes room for you. And I want to say thank you to my husband, who’s been there from the beginning.
I’m grateful for the mentors and leaders who recognized my potential, and for the organizations that shaped me from the American Heart Association and the Atlanta Track Club to the community events that trusted me with leadership roles and allowed me to serve with purpose.
Above all, I thank God and my ancestors. Every transformation, every breakthrough, and every open door has been guided and protected by something far greater than me.
