We had the good fortune of connecting with Ushma Desai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ushma, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my company/brand is my positive mindset, never-give-up attitude and relentless hard work. Having a good postive mindset is extremely important because quite frankly no one wakes up feeling motivated every morning. I derive motivation from watching an inspiring movie, listening to a meaningful podcast or reading a good book. I also like surrounding myself with people who constantly uplift my spirits and believe in me. My never-give-up attitude comes from my personal life experiences and I live by the mantra of giving my 200% to everything I do. Lastly, I do what I do with a good intention (trust me that goes a long way!)

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a wedding planner by profession. We offer Full Wedding Planning, Partial Wedding Planning and Onsite Coordination services for Indian as well as multi-cultural weddings. What truly sets up apart is our ability to go the extra mile and treat our clients like our own extended family. Juggling between household responsibilities, running a business and raising a child is never easy; but the journey has been very fulfilling and extremely gratifying. I absolutely love what I do, so nothing brings me more joy than meeting and exceeding my clients expectations by turning their dreams into complete reality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is a very cultural rich city. There’s a ton of options to drink, dine and shop. I’d love to spend an afternoon at Centennial Park, maybe go to the GA Aquarium or World of Coca-Cola, grab drinks at the SunDial restaurant and enjoy specular views of the city during sunset and head over to dinner at a nearby restaurant – tons of good options nearby. We would end the night at the Glenn Hotel with rooftop views of the city!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A book that changed my life was the “Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. It taught me to believe in the power of manifestation. It was gifted to me by my dear aunt when I was going through a very rough patch in my life. I learnt the importance of the “attract-believe-recieve” mantra and apply it to my daily life since then. I also owe my success to everyone who has encouraged me, motivated me and empowered me to dream big and never give up. Huge shout-out to my awesome team as well as my friends, family and fellow vendors in the wedding industry for their constant support and belief in me.
