We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Curry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
A quote that constantly resonates with me is ” Take risks in your life, If you win you may Lead. If you Loose , You may Guide.” -Sawmi Viv. In this life you’ll never know how far you can go unless your willing to take it that far, unless your willing to risk it all. I was raised to walk my own path ,baring my own light. Learning the path least traveled is often the most rewarding .I draw a lot of my inspiration from my childhood , from things I was “raised on”. Raised with full confidence that me, myself , can do anything in this world I want . With that instilled at a young age , it applied to every aspect of my life. Never limiting myself in things I wanted to do , wanted to say and even wanted to wear. Something I remember very vividly is 2012 my sophomore year In highschool . Probably 15 at the time, I wore an extended tee to school with Solar Red Yeezys and got roasted for 8 hours straight. Knowing I was fresh , with direct inspiration drawn from someone I looked up to , no one could tell me anything . I heard what they were saying , but they couldn’t tell me anything. Of course you fast forward 2-3 years later and everyone and their moms wore extended tees and skinny jeans … With that foresight I projected with anything and everything after that. Starting music in 2017 was the biggest risk I’ve ever taken. Choosing music over college, loosing a girlfriend ,not knowing if anyone was going to rock with me, not knowing if I was ever going to find financial success, my mom sure as hell didn’t want me making music so she kicked me out. All the cards stacked on the opposite side I still stuck to what I believed in, what I wanted to do. And I found my way .To this day , I don’t regret taking that risk. All the things I was once scared of ,I realized I didn’t need to define my success. Don’t be scared to take the risk. Don’t be scared to get ridiculed .Don’t be scared to be different . You want to live a different life, take different risks than the people around you. This is your life, your story .This story goes how you want it to.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are currently working on making TCurry bigger than an artist but a brand. A lifestyle . These past 5 months I’ve worked the hardest ever I think since I’ve started making music. And the past 5 months have been the most successful and fulfilling . Long nights that bleed into the mornings , shooting videos , special guests performances ,photoshoots, drinking what feels like a 12 pack of red bull a night to stay up through 10 hour studio sessions , getting it . I Love This Shit. It doesn’t matter how talented you are, if you don’t work hard…. the talent will go unseen . And I refuse to go unseen. Someone recently reached out to me and said ” Slow down and smell the flowers that bloom from your success” and to that I responded ill smell all the flowers at once when they’re at my funeral . Insinuating , we not gone stop trying to get it til its game over !

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hahaha if someone came into town to spend a week with me they would be exhausted . Im constantly moving. We start everyday by getting fresh then we start maneuvering , probably doing some shopping. Sliding by the homies at FullCircle or No Signal. Then we pull through to the 1 of the spots. Post and vibe out, make a few beats , grab some grub. They got a fire spot called Q-time right next to his crib. From there then its studio til the sun come up. Nokizzy Next day I may have a photoshoot set up so thats the first half of the day , after that grab some grub , link with the homies and pop out to a club or a show. Next day ill link with my assistant we’ll go over promo and marketing , go over the weeks layout and drop dates on all content. Then back to the studio til the am . Thursdays – Sundays we going from hotel to hotel in different cities , recording music , videos and networking . Literally nonstop for those 3 days . Everything nonstop. We keep grinding We taking pictures and videos all day long so I hope you not scared of a camera . If you easily sleep deprived then you can’t hang cause we get to the pranks when its late. We work hard but we play hard too. We find a perfect balance for both so the experience itself is enjoyable .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All this wouldn’t be possible without all the people that doubted me, told me what I couldn’t do, and hated on me for taking the risks. They gave me a flame to my creativity to pursue and go even further . I want to give a BIG shoutout to my Engineer and close friend Ryan Mull . (@mullymadeit) We,ve built this unstoppable momentum and strive to see the other ones success. Shoutout to all the fans and everyone who’s been listening and supporting since day 1. As the music continues to progress my development as an artist and risk taker is evident . This project is real, this next project is me , TCurryyy.
