We had the good fortune of connecting with Toni Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Toni, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
When I first started Candid Conversations it started out as simply toys and parties.

As time moved on, and my business began to grow, I really wanted to help not only spice up a relationship but enhance them as well.

Relationship and sexuality coaching is needed more than people know. I help couples and individuals deal with all types of relationship based issues: from dealing with breakups and divorces to the birds and the bees talk to with you teenager, Candid Conversations is a safe resource.

Having safe relationship resources, or an unbiased best friend as I call myself, allows you to work through issues in a healthy manner which leads to healthy relationships.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Candid Conversations is more than toy parties and fun. What I love most about my business is I’m able to educate and provide helpful information in a party setting. Another thing that separates us from other companies is we work with both males and females. Party settings, individual coaching, and couple’s coaching…my business provides a service that YOU NEED!

Now it hasn’t always been easy. I’m a single mother of 4 so you can imagine how hard it is to start a business let along run one. All while working a full time job, whew, talk about rough. Luckily, I was able to find a group of business minded women to work with. Having a good support system can make the most impossible task a reality. Don’t expect them to do the work for you but having someone to talk through your failures and celebrate your successes is invaluable!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love the simple things. The Birmingham Museum of Art and The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute would be on my must see list! Take a walk at Railroad Park and maybe even have a picnic.

As far as the night life… I love live music so I would be trying to catch a performance at the m The Plum Bar and have a drink. I can get all my favorites at Urban Smoke; chicken, french fries, a good drink, and live music!
