We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Vercelote and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tina, what do you attribute your success to?
My success can be traced to two, key principles: Relationships and sharing. Share your talent or gift with others, and let the chips fall where they may. Make it happen, too, which is another way of saying give it your all. Do what you love, share the love and don’t forget to laugh both at yourself and others. The joy comes from knowing that when you give it your all and deliver a great product/service, the value will follow.
PIETRA Luxury in Stone is the culmination of 25+ years in the commercial development, design and construction industries. I love natural stone but refuse to stop there. The future will be won by those who can deliver great service + high quality products that otherwise wouldn’t be available without someone stepping up to make a difference. Our access point to Antolini creates a competitive advantage that few, if any, can fully appreciate. But we do. Every day.
The goal has always been, and will always be, to bring the highest quality stone and innovation to metro Atlanta. Our evolution is a lot like the city originally named Terminus. We are are constantly adapting, changing and growing to take others beyond where they are now or could ever imagine. That’s a tall vision but one that’s completely worthwhile and rewarding to see take hold.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name, PIETRA, means stone in Italian. We capitalize PIETRA like a registered trademark. Just as if it were a common brand name, such as JEEP or AT&T. “Luxury in stone” speaks to the exquisite beauty of our product and how the timelessness of natural stone can impact a kitchen, bath or any living/work space. We are unlike any other natural stone shop in Atlanta. We aren’t trying to sell everything to everybody. Only the best, or highest quality products delivered with know how and service that actually care about the customer. Our slogan summarizes the commitment nicely: PIETRA Luxury in Stonetm — Where art is our form and beauty is the function.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have lived in metro Atlanta a fairly long time, so what’s cool to do is to let visitors dictate the itinerary. With digital and social media, a majority can plan their own trips or destination spots. My job is to guide them and maybe suggest other lesser known places that might not turn up on the radar. For example, Chamblee where PIETRA is based now has several top eating spots and restaurants that have managed to sustain the pandemic and are now creating great atmosphere and buzz. @Hopstix is one of my favorites. H Mart and the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market (BHFM) are just a few miles away. Both can transfer you to another world pretty quickly. One of my best friends, Anna G., who lives in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., loves to come up here with her Yelp app. and tell us where we’re going. That’s really cool. It eliminates a ton of pressure to find the perfect place without knowing what my guest really wants. Sometimes neither one of us knows. We just go!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Everyone who has helped make PIETRA both a possibility and now a company and known brand. Our Italian supplier, Alberto Antolini, who heads up Antolini Luigi of Italy www.antolini.com. Without Alberto and his sales manager, Giacinto, PIETRA would not have the competitive product advantage that it does today. And last but not least, co-founder Jeremy Garlington. As well as everyone else who has worked with us and helped us get to where we are today. The list is long!
