We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Timeless Masterpiece mission is to promote and encourage higher education amongst the minority communities through products, services, and resources. Timeless Masterpiece has been featured in the Socially Drive Magazine as a Motor City business fueled by change. We provide graduation accessories, apparel, and resources for students at various levels ranging from middle school students to doctoral candidates. Our main products are labeled as different levels of education: B.S. and Ph.D.. Our Breathtaking Stoles will guarantee to take people’s breath away when they see the work of art. Breathtaking Stoles are graduation stoles that are a decorative sash worn by students to highlight their achievements, educational and personal journey, and their alma mater. These products are offered at various prices which include kente cloth, predesigned, and customized stoles. Our Phenomenal Head Décor sparkles throughout the crowd making you feel phenomenal while you stand out amongst hundreds of people. Phenomenal Head Décor (Ph.D.) are graduation cap toppers that are a decorative base worn by students to help showcase their personality, achievements, or inspirational words. Our GRAD Apparel helps graduates rep their alma mater or their organization while showcasing their educational achievement.

Being that Timeless Masterpiece is focused on providing graduation accessories to commemorate students’ accomplishments, we wanted to be able to help other students achieve as well. By highlighting students, it shows the importance of having a support system, impact of organizations, and personal perseverance. We created marketing campaigns that help showcase students success and obstacles; moreover, the campaigns help motivate students to complete their degree or pursue higher education. These marketing campaigns have been focused on but not limited to: at home graduation ceremonies during COVID-19, parents who have had children while pursuing a degree, and the importance of having a support system.

#TheGRADMatters is an initiative that was created under Timeless Masterpiece to help show support to students who are pursuing higher education. At Timeless Masterpiece #TheGRADMatters is not just a hashtag, it is a way to pour back into the community. Many people always encourage graduates to complete their degree but they never care about what a student may have to endure to complete it. As a college graduate, my genuineness and efforts to help impact all client’s special day to be special is based on my own experience. Often many people overlook the struggles that students endure while pursuing an education. Struggles vary from financial hardships, lack of support, health (e.g. physical, mental or emotional), and many other factors. The GRAD Matters initiative allows my business to offers resources, advice, inspiration, and motivation to help assist students along the way.

Through the #TheGRADMatters initiative we have donated over $2000 in scholarships and products to upcoming graduates. We have shipped thousands of orders to over 300 schools. We have shipped orders to students in over 35 States and D.C. & the U.S. Virgin Islands. We have shipped orders internationally to the Bahamas, Canada, Japan, & London.

I am most proud of how I took my journey with pursuing my master’s degree and turning it into a business. A 2019 graduate of Northwood University with a MBA in Management, pursuing my master’s degree began my journey with Timeless Masterpiece. While pursuing my degree, I ran into financial issues, was placed on academic probation, and experienced an injury which placed me on disability for my fulltime job. Many times I was discouraged to finish getting my degree, but with the help of others I received my degree. I chose to commemorate my graduation with a winter and spring graduation shoot in my hometown, Detroit. I wanted to show that Detroit produces people that have a go get it mentality no matter what they are faced with, Detroit Girls Graduate! After receiving inquiries about my stole from my viral shoots, I chose to make a business customizing graduation stoles, caps, and apparel. Due to my unique journey with pursuing my degree, I wanted to be able to do the same for others. I wanted to contribute to my clients’ special day and allow them to highlight their accomplishments, their journey, and commemorate those who helped them along the way. I incorporate my identity and journey throughout my business. Timeless Masterpiece uses the acronym TM. Timeless Masterpiece acronym as TM stems from my initials and my nickname TradeMark. TM is showcased through one of the business logos. The word Masterpiece was used to commemorate me while I was pursuing my Master’s degree. The word Timeless was used to highlight how when pursuing an education, no one can take your degree away from you. Our slogan, “ A Timeless Masterpiece never goes out of style.” Your education will always be timeless and hold value.

Running a business, has had it’s ups and downs. I am self-funded, there were a lot of financial risks I had to take to ensure my business was successful. While maintaining a full-time job, I work to run my business during the nights and weekends. I did not have access to a network that can provide me with an investment into my business. This financial impact only allowed me to hire contractors during our busy seasons to help fulfill orders. With the lack of funding to purchase or lease a space, I turned my basement into a working space for my business. As a black entrepreneur, there were a lack of financial resources available to businesses. Without proper financing, it was difficult to purchase the best equipment, supplies, and materials to create our products on a larger scale. There was also a lack of resources to help guide and coach entrepreneurs to secure the financial resources that were available especially for small owned businesses. I ran into issues where someone stole my entire framework for my business. It taught me to protect my brand. Ever since that occurred, I haven’t looked back. We redid our entire business structure and have been succceding since then. Turning a hobby into a successful business hasn’t been easy but seeing my graduates worldwide in my items to highlight their journeys has made it worth it.
