We had the good fortune of connecting with Tieisha LaFayette Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tieisha, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I cane up with the idea for my business while I was home on furlough in 2020.. Covid-19 was running through Los Angeles. I’m a M.A. by day. I wanted to see a different type of clothing for Women and petite women. Fashion that is good quality, comfortable and make you feel sexy.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a M.A. ( Medical Assistant) 18 years this year. I am very proud of the career I have created. When I started my daughters were 7 and 4. It was not easy. Studying with cartoons playing in the background, day care taking up all your money. Being overlooked because of your race/being lied on so their friend can get the job. I overcame & learned no shortcuts. No elevator to success, you must take the stairs. Apply what you learn and keep it moving. Do it right the first time!!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week long in Los Angeles! Wow!!! So much to do & see.
We would hit the Wax Museum in Hollywood, CA. Universal studios, Definitely wold have to stop by Bubba Gumps for a bite before leaving. The Getty Museum. Hollywood Blvd for the stars. Pink’s Hot Dogs on Melrose. Bossanova on Sunset. The Pier in Santa Monica. Nipsey Hussle storefront. Snoop Dogg Store, Inglewood. The Grove at night, Los Angeles. Downtown Nightlife. The lights on Wilshire.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Husband, Nipsey Hussle and Supa Cent (Crayon Case). My hubby always was telling me to do something on the side, to have a hustle. That it won’t come just from going to work. Nipsey & Supa taught me that you gotta work, get it done, remain humble And that everybody can’t go with you on this journey.
