We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiara Mason and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiara, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to be a writer or I may say “join the world of Arts” it goes back to when I was a little girl growing I loved to read, I still do! I read books like the Hunger Games, Lovely Bones, and so many others. I love how reading challenges my imagination and it takes me on an adventure and places me into that world. I also had a lot of baby dolls when I was a child, so I practiced  with using my imagination and being more creative. I remember when I was in 3rd grade my teacher Ms. Robinson told my parents that she was impressed by how I took a picture on an assignment and created a story base off that picture. In 6 grade I had my “Mini History ” short book displayed in the display case in my middle school. But honestly during those times I still didn’t know if I wanted to be a writer. In high school it sparked my interest when I joined musical theater but it wasn’t until 2014 during a community Christmas play that I did that I realized that this was my purpose. So from that on fell more in love with art not just acting & writing but Dance and music. I enjoy my passion in being a writer & director. I get to tell stories that people believe in and can relate to. I love to explore different genres of films. I enjoy being apart of the theater world because it feels like home away from home.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that I love what I do and I enjoy what do. Fame is easy, money is easy. But if you do for all the wrong reasons it does a disservice to those who believe in your vision. I write outside the box and I always ask myself before I write “what story hasn’t been told yet!” I don’t want to be another cliche writer but a storyteller. What I’m most proud of is my growth in my writing. I was strive to learn more things and explore more outside of my norm. How I got to where I am today? God and my family. It’s very uplifting to have people you love cheering you on. It always gives me that extra push I need. Has things always been easy? No, there were times were I’ve worked on a project and have always had anxiety of what the outcome may be because of the amount of obstacles but it always surprises me. But I overcame by prayer, finding solutions to issues and not being afraid to let things fall in place. Lessons I’ve learned along the way is trust your gut, don’t put all your eggs in one basket and never put the cart before the horse meaning if it’s not right time to do it then don’t do it. What I want the world to know about Lady T. is that I looooooovvvveee being a writer and I’m in this for the long haul. My dream is to win an Oscar and a Emmy one day and I believe it will happen in due time. But I’m enjoying the journey of bringing stories to my supporters that I know they would love and cherish for a lifetime.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I’m from Atlanta I grew up around wing joints and I love lemon pepper wings so if my friends were visiting my city I would take them to Wings 101, we would go downtown Atlanta to places like Suit Lounge or U Bar on Camp Creek. I love the Sugar Factory too. My favorite cafe is Cafe Intermezzo so I definitely have a night out there again.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this article to my family especially my mother. My family has been my biggest support and I wouldn’t be who I am today and as successful as I am today without God and them. My mother is my backbone. She is the driving force behind my business and she has always motivated me to go over and beyond and to keep pushing no matter what. There have been times were I have doubted my own potential and it was my mom who reminded me of who I am and to never give up on my dreams. I have close friends who like family that I treasure who also supports me and motive me so dedicate this article to them too and they know who they are, what’s understood don’t need to be explained.
