We had the good fortune of connecting with Theron Madison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Theron, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The industry is very, VERY, small. Especially in Hollywood. When you’re in this industry, you’re always being watched by everyone. If your an Actor, Actress, Model, or Artists, you are definitely being watched. So for me, it’s all about being presentable and knows what you put out there represent you or your brand. Also, you have to be careful who not to burn bridges with. Everyone in this industry talks to one and another, they will ask questions about certain individuals either they’re good to work with or not.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art always reflects what I’m thinking or what I want to say. I’m very soft-spoken which it’s hard to believe if you know me. But, In my films and writing, I’m always saying things that I never get a chance to say from my own mouth. My films also reflect what’s happening in everyday life and sometimes certain things that I remember that either happened to me, my friends, or people who I come across. For example, my film “STYMIE” is based on the situation of my friend who I consider my brother that who encounters a guy who tries to get him to do a very exotic photoshoot, but he backed out. I took that situation and wrote how I would the situation would go if he ever did it. It’s very interesting when you look at it that way. You always wanna express your imagination and want to make a long-lasting impact because you want to express your thought and make sure you have a voice. And that’s what art is to me, expressing yourself and your imagination and have a voice.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t think a certain place would matter at this point. If we’re all together and have a good time, then that’s all that matters. I and my friends have different personalities and we sometimes either collide or merge. So if we’re out or hanging out with each other, it’s 10x extreme than before. Hell, that’s when we really have fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jr Be Snappin, Kwami Sage, and Slim Dre Drizzy are two individuals who I’ve met in the past two years. All three are talented and different Hip Hop Artists who have different angles of doing their art, expressing themselves, and have a unique way of using their music with great visuals. Their drive is unstoppable and they never have an ounce of never giving up on their passion and dreams. All four of us have worked together with music videos, short films, and web-series. We inspire each other and push each other to be great and always focus on the goal at hand. They are the main ones to help me focus and get on my ass when I’m slipping or not focus.
