We had the good fortune of connecting with Tesh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tesh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I believe that we should all have something that we’ve created to call ours. Obtaining a business is hard work but it gives you a type of freedom that you don’t receive working for someone else’s business. There is so much value and power within sharing your own creative ideas to the world and to receive support back.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being an artist has been one of the most challenging journeys in my life. It’s a slow and steady process especially if you’re taking the organic and authentic route. There have been so many things that I’ve learned from being ripped off by showcase promoters to managerial figures trying to shape me as an artist. I’ve been able to accomplish some pretty awesome thing as an artist like opening for major festivals like High Times, Hot97 ATL Birthday Bash, Art Of Cool along with artist like Nas, Erykah Badu, T.I, Young Jeezy, Kevin Gates & More. Through the great and not so great experiences, I’ve always been able to come out of each situation with valuable lessons and wouldn’t change any moment. Today, my greatest accomplishment has been being able to live in my artistry as a full time creator and performer and what has set me apart from others has been me just being myself!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being in a city that is still growing, I’m constantly learning about new things in the area. A typical outing with my friends would consist of mostly finding good food! The RDU area has some of the best places to eat like Flavor Hills, Mezcalito, Where’s The Jerk, Mikes Vegan Cookout & more. Typically, clubs are a last resort unless it’s a nice lounge with a bar like The Architect on Wednesdays with Nito Band or House of Art! There are many creative artist who host their own shows each month so 9/10 we will catch a showcase curated by a local artist. For fun, I’d take them on an active trip to Stars & Strikes Bowling!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give recognition to my parents and grandparents for having such awesome qualities to take after when it comes to creating. My beautiful partner Jaeda who has been a huge part of supporting & assisting me on this entrepreneurial journey. My engineer and producer, Prolific for believing in me as an artist, always sticking with me and always willing to go over and beyond when it comes to innovating new ideas and delivering quality material. & support from the HXPPYCOOKIEWORLD , they have always sparked my inspiration just by showing their support.
