We had the good fortune of connecting with Teria Ketterer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It’s in my heart. For the past 13 years I’ve been working with seniors. I really enjoy putting a smile on their faces. It is more so Important now with the current situation within this world today. God lead us in this direction as if he was preparing us for this pandemic. I was always loved by my patients and decided that I can do so much more, and that’s exactly what I did. I ran into Justin Weeks at a previous job who is just as determined as I am to become an Entrepreneur, the biggest thing was we both loved working in geriatrics Justin has a passion for caring for others and so do I. we talked and put some ideas together, we have used our passion and our hearts to open up an office in dispite of this pandemic. We kind of worked out of pocket and yes it was very costly but we were in need to help out everyone who needed our assistance. The smiles that we put on so many faces of so many seniors are priceless. We started a home care agency because we are driven by the desire to make a difference . we want to make a difference in senior care . we were use our passion to assist with All senior needs as possible. It is scary starting your own business especially when you have to determine when is the right time to quit your 9 to 5 and work 100% with your own company But with all the risks and doubts you tend to question yourself . even your closes people doubt you but at the end of the day you have to believe in yourself that you can do it so we took a leap of faith.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Having your own personal support worker is one of the best and most comfortable options for seniors who would rather live in their own homes, but require a little more help. That’s why we at Silver Lining strive to bring the best in personal home care solutions. At Silver Lining HomeCare we believe in providing the best service possible and we keep in mind how we would like to receive care ourselves. Dignity, respect, and a positive outlook are what drives us to provide only the best in-home care. While some tasks may seem simple enough now, as time progresses these tasks become more strenuous on our bodies, relying on family members may not always be an option and this is where we come in. Our personal care aides will provide assistance in many ways from housekeeping, laundry, making beds, and even ADLs such as dressing and bathing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Silver Lining Home Care is based out of Atlanta. If my best friend was in town I would first take them to a sports game . The new Mercedes Benz stadium is awesome . I love the Falcons and the tailgating before and during the games are the best. We can’t forget about the Atlanta Hawks. If they were playing we would stay at the CNN center hotel because it’s connected to the arena . Ruth and Chris steakhouse is also connected to the CNN center. They have the best steaks in Atlanta. some time during her visit we would visits the MLK center, the Market on Ponce, Coca Cola world, the Atlanta aquarium. I love Sipping under the Sea let nights at the aquarium. We will hang out and do some retail therapy in Buckhead , or maybe one of the outlets. Last but not least I will take her to the daiquiri factory to try every flavor of alcohol she can handle. Most importantly, we will volunteer and visit some senior care home. I love doing for random seniors or kids , so yes we will do some good deeds for some special people.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my business partner who is goal driven just as I am. We started many other businesses together but those businesses wasn’t what was in store for us. We were meant to start a home care agency. Justin keeps me going even when I fell like my fear of failing is taking over. Justin has that Entrepreneur drive in him, as well as my determination to be successful. being able to partner with someone who see the same vision as you makes That journey easier and of course two heads are better than one. We compliment each other well . My weakness is his strong abilities and his weakness just happened to be my strong abilities. together we are unstoppable and will have one of the top three home health care agencies in Georgia.
