We had the good fortune of connecting with Terence Penny and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terence, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Being consistent and allowing myself to be open to feedback has always been a big advantage for me as an artist. People have taken a liking to me because of of my willingness to say I’m wrong or need to learn something.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Inspiring words and grooves come easily to rap/hip hop artist, Terence Penny. Born in the culturally rich Jane-Finch community of Toronto, Ontario, Terence has a natural ability to connect with people and uses his music to leave audiences uplifted and energized. God and Community are the foundation to making this happen. Terence Penny writes his own material and has performed both locally and internationally as a headliner and as an opening act for The Juno award winning Toronto Mass Choir & The Toronto Jazz Orchestra.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My fave spots in the city would be a place called Jamaica house. I freakin love oxtails than we would go down to la papusa Lola for some phenomenal tres leches for dessert. After that we would go to the CN tower and watch the whole city as we plot how we gonna take over!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my sisters Goldie and Laverne for supporting me in what I do as an artist and a youth worker.
