We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Gasbarro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I grew up with two parents who run their own business together, so it always made sense to me to work for myself! I was very fortunate in that my parents were able to work out of the house and be there throughout my whole childhood. I began working at the age of 17 and never stopped, but in the back of my mind I always knew I wanted to work for myself. So, I earned by Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an emphasis in Management. I knew no matter what I did I would need a background in business if I wanted to really be successful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I consider esthetics to be an art, because you are working with your hands and get to be creative with treatment, among other things. I chose to specialize in the Holistic side of acne because I feel that you cannot treat the skin without a multi-faceted approach; looking at lifestyle, diet, and more.

I’ve been fortunate enough to get where I am today with the support of friends and family while working hard every single day. The work never really stops when you run your own business and as tiring as it can be sometimes, I wouldn’t change it for the world! It wasn’t easy, but if you believe enough in yourself and your mission you can really do anything.

I’ve learned so much throughout my time as a business owner and esthetician. As a self-identified perfectionist, I find it difficult to not be good at something. So when I make mistakes or there are bumps in the road, I have to really remind myself that it is all a learning experience that will never stop. I learn something new every day.

Everyone should know that they can really do anything. If you commit enough time, energy, love and passion into an idea, it will come to fruition.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m grateful enough to have been born and raised in Southern California, so I have a lot of ideas of where I’d take someone.

As far as food goes, we would absolutely indulge at the following restaurants:
– Fat Sal’s in Encino
– Moody Rooster in Westlake Village
– In n Out
– My mom’s own home-cooked meals

Activities would be very nature-centric as I’m someone who values my time outdoors:
– Hiking to a beautiful waterfall
– Lounging at the beach
– Visit a national forest nearby
– Go to Ventura and rent a boat for the day

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout my parents! They are both so incredibly business savvy and have helped pave the way for my business to thrive. I go to them almost daily asking for help and advice and they are always there to help me. I am inspired every day by my dad, David, because he has successfully run his own business for 40+ years now and works harder than any one I know. My mom, Karen, also helps tremendously with the accounting side of my business and offers words of wisdom that I swear by to this day. In addition, I’d like to recognize other esthetician’s in the industry, as they are always there to answer questions and share advice. I love the community I have cultivated and am grateful every day for my support system.
