We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamika Owens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamika, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
In September of 2017 I was laid off. I had been working for this airline for seven years and honestly I hated that job. I got to fly free but I really didn’t like going to work at all. So now I am unemployed and honestly wanted a break from working. I worked some jobs but they didn’t make me happy. I even attempted to use my degree and go work in a law firm. It still didn’t move me. It didn’t free like this was my passion. When the pandemic hit it motivated my so follow my dreams and work for myself. Time is something you can’t get back and never know when it going run out. I decided I wanted to explore the entrepreneurship out again. It’s the best decision I made. I love making vibes. I alway had a passion for candles I will burn a candle out. So I just started reading how to make candles and watching videos and I decided I can do this! I had time and I am great at creating things with my hands. So I started hand-pouring beautiful scents.
What should our readers know about your business?
NariiNicole focus more on creating signature scents for a purpose and a vibe. When I create candles I think about what can this scent do for me while the aroma is flooding though the air. I say me because making candle you should alway alway test your candles first. I focus on scents that can calm you and give you a feeling of peace and just a vibe. I do this by combining potential scents together and seeing how they blend together. After I allow the blend or the one scent to sit for a couple days, I then test the scent in a candle. I create the have popular basic scents that everyone love as well but I focus more on creating my own signature beautiful scents. I can say I am most proud that people love my candles, I get great feedback, my business been open over a year now and I am being a better candle maker everyday. I would have to say that I got to where I am today but listening to feedback, reading Information, watching video, trail and errors and not stopping. It definitely not easy working for yourself because you have to hold yourself accountable for what you don’t do. You have to push yourself to keep going even on the days where you may not get one sale. You have to keep working that how you overcome you just don’t t stop you don’t t give up! Lesson I have learned is to listen to want you potential customers and customers are saying they want. I also know it many lessons to come so stay tune and I will be sure to tell them all. I want the world to know that NariiNicole will be a big major brand and corporation so pay attention to us as we grow. As far as my story it’s still being wrote.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t have any favorite spot in the city. Food Bar Tao, Breakfast at Barney’s, Tassili Raw Reality and my parents house .
