Meet Tamarick Johnson: Entrepreneur, Clothing Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamarick Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamarick, do you have a budget? how do you think about personal finances?
Currently right now I don’t have a specific budget because I’m still in the beginning stages. I’m really taking my time with it and learning still. My business doesn’t effect my personal life. I have them separate so that’s something I personally don’t have an issue with.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My clothing line has been about 4 years in the making. It was just an idea for the longest until I finally sat down and committed to it. I came up with the name Sayless, Do More because it is a phrase that I personally lived by growing up. Not much needs to be said when there is more work to be done. That is what I want my brand to represent. We should all want more out of yourself and just life in general. I also felt like a lot of people would be able to relate to the meaning as well. The process of starting a business has definitely been a challenge and can be stressful at times. I personally just jumped into it without much knowledge and was learning on the go. With me doing it that way I’ve definitely had my fair share of mistakes but it’s apart of the process. I’ve sold out on merchandise a couple times and now I’m in the process of really expanding. This is something I’ve always wanted to do and the success so for has been a blessing. I know it’s going to be a continued learning process throughout but I’m excited for the future of the brand.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The city of Atlanta is so diverse that it has so many things you can do. I would definitely set up a food trip so we could try all the popular food spots. Some of my favorites spots to hang out at are definitely Top Golf and The Painted Pin. I enjoy going to the many parks Atlanta has as well like Centennial Olympic Park and Grant Park. Also there are a lot of art galleries and exhibits in the area as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off definitely want to thank God for always being in my corner. I would love to give a shout out to my mother Portesha Johnson and grandmother Sophia Douglas for raising me the way they did. I appreciate them for allowing me to grow, make mistakes and always having my back no matter what. I want to show love to my partner Asha Wilhight who has been my number one fan forever. The support she gives me on the daily basis is greatly appreciated. I want to show love to my B.H.F family Korey, Maya, Fred, Tiana, Shekinah and Reggie. I appreciate y’all support and daily motivation to be better. Lastly I want to shoutout my village. When I say village I’m talking about all my family and friends. I wouldn’t have nearly the success I’ve had over the years if wasn’t for your love and support.
