We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Gatson Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

I have always loved the education field and teaching others was a passion of mine at a very young age. After obtaining a job in the insurance field, I decided to combine my education with my passion and begin training other insurance professionals. I developed course material and sought approval from the insurance department. Those training courses helped me to form my own training institute in 2006 with now over 45 courses.

Gatson Training has approval from the Georgia Insurance Commission and Alabama Insurance Department. And as of 2020, approval from the GA Real Estate Commission

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Gatson Training Associates specializes in providing educational courses to insurance and real estate professionals. What sets us aside from other educational providers is the dedication my team and I  share at making sure all of our students are successful. We look for ways to help make the material easy to learn and obtain. We watch videos, play teams, do team activities and much more. We train adults in a similar fashion as training youth- we have fun!

We go the extra mile to ensure they are equipped with all the resources necessary to help make them successful in their careers.

I love reading- so alot of my knowledge has been obtained by reading books. One of those books being the bible- which can be called the greatest business manual of all times.

We want to stay as knowledgeable as possible for our students. I want us to be recognized for the success of our students not for my own personal gratification.

Its all about helping someone else see their dreams come through. What I have learned along the way is to treat every everyone kindly at all times and to always deliver on high expectations .


If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I love all things outside and all things history related.

A nice quiet bookstore and a good cup of coffee would be a great way to start my day. Bookstores are a place where you meet a lot of different and unique people. Its always easy to strike up a good conversation in a bookstore.

I would take a road trip to visit one of Georgia’s National Parks to take a hike. Having good meal along side a great drink would definitely be included. A tour of a historic home or location would also be on my list.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All credit goes to God! Through my relationship with God and my strong upbringing by my mother Gloria Gatson, I have been able to endure the ups and downs that go along with starting and running a business. My mother helped prepare me with her knowledge, her great example and emotional support .

I have always sought help from my spouse, close family members, friends and others who offered me advice over the years. It was definitely the grace of God and all those he allowed me to come in contact with throughout the years.
