We had the good fortune of connecting with Tabitha Morrison-Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tabitha, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a mom of 3 boys and 1 girl, I try to have open and honest conversations with my children. We are living through a weird and dangerous era in life. The most important thing that I think is impactful is teach things while navigating through life as brown-skinned individuals. Having uncomfortable conversations and actually listening to their opinions or ideas on things.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an actress and content creator. To be honest, I started out at a young age wanting to be a model. I was too short and at the time, too curvaceous to be a model. My modeling agency felt that I would do better in acting. I never gave it a chance because I felt discouraged. Something shifted one day and I thought to myself that maybe it’s my time now. I’m excited about all of the acting adventures I’ve experienced and that I get to do something I love. I never thought to be a content creator until now. It’s another fun way to highlight my acting skills and be comfortable on camera. I am constantly searching for new opportunities to advance my career. Whether it’s a small role, background, modeling, or a supporting role. Networking is a big thing for me. My mentor helped me become more successful in this industry. This industry is not easy to be a part of. You’re literally challenged about everything you’re doing and they are millions of people that look like you. You have to stand out. Sometimes, people show favoritism, so it makes harder to obtain roles. I just tell myself to keep showing up and practice my craft. God is the only who designed my path. I’ve learned that you can’t share information with everyone and that I will not receive every role that I audition for. I want the world to know that at 33 years old, a husband, 4 kids, and winging it in life is that I never gave up on my dreams. It may be a little harder, but if you’re determined…you will get where you want to be. I’m not there yet. I’m on my way though.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to explore downtown Atlanta and let the day decide what or where I’m going. I don’t really have a favorite.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I always want to the Lord for everything! I am nothing without him. Secondly, I want to thank my husband of 13 years and children for being a great support system and know how to keep me going when I want to give up. I love them immensely. I lost my best friend (mom) in 2018, but she is still a big part of my motivation. She taught me so much and I carry those lessons with me. I have an amazing dad, he supports any and everything I want to do. I want to thank my family for pushing me to be strong. I want to thank my best friends and close friends. For all of the late night talks, inspirations, hugs, and support. I want to thank my mentor and friend, James. Lastly, I want to thank me! All the self talks, pushing through tired nights and early mornings of being in many roles, the determination, and finding myself again.
