We had the good fortune of connecting with Susan Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Susan, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Habits that have proven to be successful for me are reading a lot about the area of work that I’m involved in, learning how to successfully budget, consistently networking, and protecting my time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Agency 22 is a solutions oriented business consulting firm that generates opportunities for small to midsize minority/women owned business enterprises through branding, marketing , and specialized business certification services. The road to officially setting up my business came naturally for me over time. Over the years I have worked on projects and created content on the side which soon became a passion for me. Everything hasn’t been easy but being a creative at heart, paired with my professional and educational experience has certainly helped. My advice would be that no matter what you’re doing, believe in yourself, and keep God first. If you don’t, who else will? With consistency comes results, so if you’re knocking on 100 doors and 99 say no, one will eventually say yes- believe that. I would also say not to tell everyone your plans because everyone doesn’t have your best interest at heart. Give the petition of your heart to God and if you feel like you need to share, do it with those that truly love and celebrate you genuinely. Every day will come with its different struggles, so always do the best you can, even on the days you fail, get back up again. Engage in self-talk, pump yourself up by putting positive scripts in your head such as “I can do this”. It’s important to face your fears, and after praying for guidance, be prepared to move. Every day you wake up is an opportunity God gifted you for another shot at life. Sometimes the only thing stopping you, is you. I encourage everyone to practice self-love/care, to keep an open mind, take chances, pray, be good to others, network, practice time management, become an expert, be confident, and stay organized, so that when its time you’re sure to get what’s deserved.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came in town I would make sure that we went to visit the Slutty Vegan ATL, the aquarium for some great views, and to the Art District!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to my mother.
